Take the shuttle bus to see the beautiful Breathtaking view of shirakawago! Allow sufficient time and don't miss it. If you are short of time, then make sure you go for this at the very beginning.

Getting up is not easy. You have the option to go on mountain trail or by pavement. Choose the pavement by any means. The Shirakawago Observatory Deck which is behind the Ogimachi Bus Stop is the best place to feel the warmth of Shirakawago. Truly a world-class experience stopping by.

Beautiful town. Was snowing perpetually. Queue for shuttle bus up viewpoint and dinning were long. Be prepared for delays.

We paid JPY 200 per person to take the shuttle bus there and walked down on foot to enjoy the view. The view was awesome, we saw the snow in December 2016! There was a photographer (chargeable) there to take photo and print it out for you if you would like to engage the service. This is the spot to... More

The view from observation deck in winter was amazing, we were there once in autumn but this time was nicer. We went there on a bus and walk down from there. Cost for shuttle bus was 200 yen per person and the bus leaves every 20 minutes, if it's full then you have to wait for the next bus. You... More

Here, you can see the view of the whole village. Just follow the sign from the village to the observatory deck ( a little bit uphill but worth to visit)

I visited Shiragawago from Takayama and we did not have a lot of time so we engage a local guide from Takayama, Junichi Kawase, to take us to Shiragawago. We stopped at the observatory point first before going down to the village to visit one of the Gassho houses, Kanda House. Junichi walked with us to explain the history of... More

We walked from the village up to the deck and it was quite easy to do. Beautiful views out over the village below and of the surrounding area. Stunning photo opportunities! Just a suggestion but maybe do the deck first before you explore the village below, so you can locate points of interest on your map of the village (which... More

Just take a bus from Takayama Bus Terminal (this is a better option than Kanazawa) for 4420¥ per pax (round trip). It takes around 50min one way to reach Shirakawago (80km away). Once you reach Shirakawa bus terminal, walk a bit (100m) to find the shuttle bus stop where you can take the bus up to the Shiroyama Observatory Deck... More
