From the farther lot you must walk a short distance on a paved walkway towards the observatory. Tour buses stop here so it can get crowded but the groups leave fairly... More

Walked all the way from Biei Station to the observatory during winter. All the shops right opposite were closed. In fact, we were the only 2 people seen around the area. You are still able to go up to the viewpoint and see the wide expanse of field. Though nothing to be really excited about. There is literally not a... More

It's been a raining day when we were there but luckily enough we saw a huge rainbow . From the observatory tower you will oversee the whole area - it's was remarkable! Worth a visit

Some pamphlets had stunning views of this observatory park with the lavender fields in the foreground and the observation deck in pyramid building at the back. Perhaps the floral arrangement vary from year to year. This year (2015), we dint notice as much of lavenders or other colorful flowers adjacent to the observatory deck. Mostly green plateau. This spot is... More

Visiting here after Ken & Mary tree ared, very closeby. Also nice view, nice weather, best location for bird eye view hillside and farm looking. So relaxing , even I come alone but never feel lonely anyway.

We saw the pyramid lookout tower from our pension and decided to visit after we collected our rental car. The grounds are vast and our GPS directed us to a small car-park below the hill. We found out after a 10 minute uphill climb that there is a large car park above, cest la vie! This seems to be an... More

The triangular tower was under reconstruction. So we just linger a while to see the hills. Pretty sight.

Take in the scenery and enjoy. All these locations are good from the tourist office for seeing the fertile hills of the volcanic location.
