The main attraction, the Golden Hall (konjikidou), is visually impressive despite its age. However, the high price just to look at it (800yen!) may be a little off-putting. You will have to walk up a steep slope to get to the actual temple, but do...More

Chusonji(中尊寺 ) was a temple complex conprising many halls and buildings including the Main Hall (Hondo本堂) and the famous Golden Hall (Konijido 金色堂). The temple was said to exist in the year of 850, but more likely was built in 1095. Whatever, there’s at least...More

It could be fun to see these historical temples if we hadn't traveled much in Japan. They looked similar as other temples in Japan with more expensive tickets.

This temple and its museum are a must visit to see and enjoy ancient Japanese culture. The inner section of the temple which is where the 1st lord was entombed, is completely covered in gold leaf and intricate carvings. Too beautiful and intricate to describe...More

Very nice architecture. The full area is also beautiful by itself. You can enjoy walking around the parks and watching the temples. It's sad that no photographs of the golden temple are allowed because I can't share. But you can find some in the official...More

Get your mind refreshed by the fresh air and the serenity of the neighboring bamboo forest and Japanese style pond. Visit the museum and don't forget to pass by the golden statue in the temple.

This temple was built over a thousand year ago. Only because of that, you should visit this place. It was built at a time when we did not have any power tools. The truth is, electricity wasn't even invented for nearly another 800 years or...More

The ancient temple in Fujiwara period...The natural treasure is Chuson-ji Sutras with alternating line in silver and gold. Very shining and dedicated. Moreover, the main hall(Hondo) is principal image for four generation of Fujiwara clan family. The surrounded garden is nice too. Good combination of...More
