Natural phenomenon. Steam under pressure and released causing water jets and whooosh..... prepare for a drenching. Loved it.

Just a quick visit to see the spouting onsen geyser. It shoots hot water 30m into the air every hour or so. Adequate car parking and a couple of shops selling gifts etc. It's an unusual sight and be careful as you can get wet when it blows. Also you can boil eggs on the hot water as the locals... More

We arrived to visit but found it closed without any mention on their website. Very annoying that the website contains no mention of closing days for the year ahead. My 5 year old was disappointed. Common curtsey to let people know when you're going to close surely? It just takes a sentence on your website. It seems to have happened... More

Enjoy buying fresh eggs, putting the eggs in a basket and hard boiling in natural boiling onsen water. While your eggs are cooking, enjoy ashi-yu, foot onsen. A unique place that is special to Shizuoka area and to Japan. Fun experience.

The Mine Onsen Daifunto Park is a man-made geiser that goes off reliably every hour. The underground springs were discovered during development of a mine. The park is free to visit and worth a stop to see the geiser go off. When we visited, there were a bunch of families with kids in raincoats under umbrellas eager with anticipation to... More
