It's fun to walk around this small resort town and see the traditional-ish buildings and shops. If you come here, you should stay at least one night (and preferably two) at a ryokan.

A quiet and has a variety of good ryokans. We did a short walk around and look at the shops. Due to its location, the prices at the shop are slightly higher than bigger town but reasonable.

We visited Kurokawa Onsen in December. Other then the cold weather, we enjoyed walking around visiting various shops and hot springs. We found a small inn that offered onsen egg for 50 yen and free foot bath, which was great in such a cold day.

A lovely area with the river and geothermal activities around. The village itself is small so this can be done in half a day. Stroll and wander along the river and check out all the small shops as well as the ryokans. The main street...More

If you are planning to have a quiet and peaceful moment, this is the right place. Take your time in a ryokan and took a bath in an onsen..
