The trip up can be roughly split into 3 parts, you first pass by a "foresty" area, a mid area of lake and mountains, and the top where snow capped mountains awaits. Sit near where you enter the seats if you can. The view are nicer and allow more photo opps. Note the "steam engine" is at the end on... More

The price of the train is quite steep, but worth every penny. The one hour ride up the mountain is relaxing and memorable with outstanding views. Once at the top of the mountain there are restaurants, look out points and hiking trails. A truly incredible day with breathtaking views.

The view throw the forest first and throw the clowds after were suberb. But it was like a dream at the top of the mountain that we were over the clouds! We can see a lake from clouds and its beach were the tops of the mountains! It was a unique spectacle!

Wow, what a great experience, travelling steep uphill with the steam train through this magical landscape. We enjoyed one of these weather-changing autumn days. Upwards through heavy fog without any views but not less exiting, descent with the perfect view over lake Brienz and it's surrounding mountains (some already covered with fresh snow) and throughout the beautiful forest with all... Having visited Brienz on numerous occasions, we at last had an opportunity to make the trip on the Brienzer Rothornbahn this year. It was a most memorable experience, travelling on this unique little train powered by a modern steam engine at the rear. As we started the journey, climbing slowly above the dwellings of Brienz, the views around were so... More

We visited this site on a perfect sunny day, and the views were outstanding. It was quite packed, and a worker there told us it's best to come early in the morning or late in the afternoon to beat the crowds. Grab a seat on the left side going up, and try to sit as far from the engine as... More

Fantastic experience. Especially when you see the backdrop of Bluish-Green Lake Brienz at the starting point of the train ride. Again a memorable experience as you see the changing scenery from the foot of the mountain till the top. One interesting aspect of this train ride is the number of Older Generation folks who are waiting to be seated for... More

Loved this little steam railway, we had lovely weather for our trip so decided to take the last train up (16:36) which left us only 5 minutes at the top before heading back down but what a journey, stunning views you would find hard to match.

My first time here. The ticket station is right in front the SBB station. There are different prices for solo traveller, groups, and the one with SBB Swisspass. 44 CHF/ one-way ticket and 88 CHF/ return ticket. I was on the steamed-engine Bahn that day. I was a bit slowly but very romantic and relaxing. The way to the top... More
