Its a relaxing ride and you get to see lots of local flora and fauna. But rent an electric bike or motorcycle as there are some gentle but long inclines that could be murder on the thighs

The place is very quiet. No sugar cane along the side of the road anymore. It's just splattering of cattle farms now. The tour guide spoke in Japanese throughout so we have no idea what is going on except this road used to featured in a famous NHK drama series.

I heard from the guide that this place used to be full or sugarcanes. This is why this road is called sugar road. But recently many of them decided to raise cattle instead of sugar for better business. So they scenery has changed since it was featured on NHK TV series long time ago.

But this place is so peaceful and you really don’t meet people much while you stroll
during the daytime. I recommend if you are looking for truly slow life for your vacation.

I have visited this sugar road several times and recently I saw it on the way to Haimurubushi.
It is a famous road that a heroine ran by bicycle at NHK drama series 'Churasan'.
Churasan means "beautiful" or "brilliant" in the dialect of Okinawa.
It is a single country road where sugar cane fields spread to both sides.
However, don't be discouraged.
In this place, let's sing "Zawawa, zawawa, zawawa ♪" instead of singing as "Country roads, take me home ♪".

自転車で走ることは楽しいけど、電動自転車にしたほうが良かったと思います。めちゃめちゃ暑かった!
Good exercise as it is hilly. Opt for the electric bicycle unless you are quite fit

It is not worth it visiting the island to see this road. It is a long road with sugarcane plantations on both sides but it is possible to see roads like this in the other islands.
