Pizzorno Family is the fourth generation to continue with the same love and respect for nature that started over century ago. Carlos continues with the same love and respect for nature and carries on a family legacy that hasn't lost a single element of that fine wine tradition and that has adapted to our times with the most advanced techniques in cultivating the vines, elaborating wine and searching for enologist excellence. Having reconverted both vineyards and winery Pizzorno Family Wines truly represent a rich and prosperous land. Today Carlos Pizzorno has the leadership of a family that has believed in that land and through the years worked arduous and passionately for their wines.

Wine Tasting Pizzorno Family Estate
Cruise port visit stop at this nice winery about one hour from the dock. Tasted one of their ‘Reserve’ wines and purchased some for the ship; a nice red that went well with our beef empanadas.

In depth winery tour
If you enjoy wine and like to learn the real fine details the go into making a great glass of wine, than this is really a tour for you. We were just my wife and I and had a fantastic tour. We walked through the vines and learned the details of the different grapes and why they were arranged the way that they were, the sugar level of each etc...we then topped everything off with an incredible and very generous meal paired with the wine. Couldn't have asked for a better day.

Best wine tasting experience in a wonderful winery
The estate was absolutely wonderful. Everyone welcomed us very warmly and we felt great from the first second there. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, so it was a pleasure to learn about the history of this place and the family running it. But the best part by far was wine tasting. Five different bottles, each paired with an incredible dish. Wonderful! Their tannat was a revelation to me, and I will certainly be on the lookout for that particular grape variety from now on. Worth every penny!

Wonderful wine experience

Day started off a little rocky when we were not picked up. We may have missed an email, but we called and they quickly resolved it and MORE than made up for it!

Tour was very informative and the staff was so friendly. The wine tasting was plentiful and lunch was super delicious. I highly recommend this tour!!

Excellent tasting and lunch
We arrived in Montevideo by ship. Rather than booking through the cruise line, we booked directly with the winery. We were met by the cruise terminal in a private van that took us to the winery about a 45 min. Drive. Our guide gave us a tour of the vineyard and processing facility. He explained every step of the wine making process. He then brought us into the tasting room where we sampled some of their wines, Including the grape they are known for,Tannat. That was followed by an excellent lunch with wine pairing.

I have done many wine tastings in the U.S. and Italy, and I found this one to be very informative. Our guide knew his wine making. And the small group made this most enjoyable. Great value! I highly recommend.

A great place to visit, eat and enjoy

This place was just amazing. we have a great class about grapes, wines and how they do vines, we also could have one of the best meals I had in Uruguay and, of course, taste great wines.
I couldn't control myself and bought pretty much all wines they have there.
I definitely recommend them.

Great wine tour, tasting and meal
The Pizzorno tour was one of the best vineyard experiences I have had. They have a lovely modern facility for enjoying the meal and tasting. The presentation of their wine-making process was one of the best I've ever seen. The vineyard and production facilities are well presented. You will be picked up by a private car and driven straigh there and the same on return. Excellent.

I booked this tour directly with winery and found communication very good. We had a thorough tour of the winery with a delightful sommelier. Wish I could remember his name. We have visited wineries all over the world for the last 25 years and I thought his presentation excellent. We were seated with a family from the States and had a lot of fun tasting the wines. Personally, the wines didn’t knock our socks off although we really loved the Tannat Reserva. Lunch was a 3 course meal. Very good but not at the same level as the restaurants we’ve been at. The day we visited seemed very busy. There was a large group of Brazilians enjoying their tasting in the adjoining room which made it hard to hear our sommelier. Then they seated a late arrival couple at a table next to us and another sommelier sat and gave them a presentation. It was a lot of competing noise which detracted from the experience. We did enjoy the day and would recommend it to those who haven’t been to a lot of other wineries.
