The Foundation’s permanent collection is spread over three rooms: the Catalan Painting Room, the Picasso Room and the Contemporary Artists Room. The Catalan Painting Room features the collection started by Josep Palau i Fabre’s father, Josep Palau i Oller, himself a painter and art collector. The collection brings together works by contemporaries of Palau i Oller. Following in his father’s footsteps, Palau i Fabre has added more recent works over the years. The Picasso Room is a permanent exhibition showing a variety of works by Picasso spanning his early days as a painter when studying at Llotja to works from the last years of his life. Of course, this collection is the most valuable in the Foundation’s possession given that Picasso is, in the words of Palau i Fabre, “the greatest that's ever lived”.The Contemporary Art Room exhibits works by artists such as Perejaume, Miquel Barceló and Pepe Yagües.

I found myself in Caldes d'Estrac for a few days and was pleased to stumble across this museum. I would say there around 40-50 items of Picasso of great interest along with other artists all known to Palau. I took approx 1 hour to view but could have taken longer. Approx 5 Euros and I had to ring the bell... More

My husband (who eats basically anything) said that his dinner was okay, not more, but I was really disappointed in my veal and veggies. A sign of good service is that when I ordered a gazpacho as I could not eat the portion, I was not invoiced for the veal.

Less than an hour on the train from Barcelona you will find this modest museum, bequeathed to the picturesque seaside town by one of Picasso's best known biographers and friends. Over his lifetime Palau acquired or was given a small (about 15 works) collection of Picasso originals - paintings and some ceramics and sketches. Together with memorabilia such as autographed...
