The accommodation is basic but clean, and being on a small island, don't expect fresh water out of the tap. Upon arrival, we were advised to store food at the designated locations and not in our rooms to avoid rats coming into the rooms. Following their advise, we didnt have rats visiting our rooms. The food is sufficient, though I would advise you to be there as soon as it's served. There are also tidbits if you feel peckish in-between meals and can make hot drinks, too. The crew there is friendly and go the extra mile to take care of us. Only went there for a snorkeling trip, not diving, but safety is still paramount to them.

A very good moment with all the team! All the staff is local and really friendly. Of course if you prefer to spend your time with yourself, eat and live western like without have anything to share with native people, don’t go there. However if you want to learn more about local people, share experiences around life and scuba dive, Billabong is a real good place! Sure, there are some rats... but if you don’t bring food or any cream in your room you won’t see any tails. The dive centre is quite good and BCD are brand new. The only problem I had was with a broken pressure-gauge. But actually it was great, the dive masters were kind, very serious, and furthermore, professionals and accurate. I really appreciate the mood and the evenings with the team and Hen! I strongly recommend this home stay and the dive center. Thank you and see you again Billabong Scuba!!

Prior to my arrival I read some worrying comments on here regarding the safety of diving equipment and rats in rooms/accommodation being run down etc. I went expecting the worst but once I got there I had no complaints. I stayed in a standard room with air con and bathroom. The room was basic but clean. On arrival we were informed not to take any food into our room because of rats. Following this advise we had no rats in our room at all. I did my AOW course with Matthew over the first two days who was very professional and helpful. I also dived for 1 day at Sipadan with Remy and Hussin. The day was great and I really enjoyed it. All equipment worked fine and Remy and Hussin were helpful pointing out everything under the water. I would definitely dive here again. Food was good but does goes quickly so would suggest being there as soon as meal times start. The only negative thing is that all toilet waste and shower water goes straight into the sea however this is the same with the whole island. Overall I had a great stay and would not think twice about returning to dive here.

1, Accommodation: not good. There is no place to put my belongs. Only a very small desk in room. The shower head did not work at all. We had to use bucket. Also rats visited our room every night! 2, Foods: below average. 3, Diving: Unreliable. When we finished our diving and got back to the surface. We totally lost contact with boat. After floated in the sea for a very long time. I believed we had been in danger of life. The dive master asked us to swim back to the coast with the full equipment and tank by our own. They did not offer any help. And then we were asked to walk back to the scuba shop with the heavy BCD and tank. One of my friends got sick and another even got hurt because of this accident! 4, Responsibility: irresponsible. After the accident mentioned above had happened, only the DM said sorry to us. The managers here never said one word to us. No sorry, no reason. Just like it did not happen! Because we had exhausted due to the accident. We could not continue the rest dives that day. We asked to refund money for the rest two dives because it's all their fault and they shall be responsible for it! But the manager told us they will not refund the money or give any compensation! It seems they will take the responsibility only if we were dead. I can't imagine that the manager would answer me like this. If you don't care your life, you can keep selecting this place.

We had a terrible one night at billabong. Bugs on the bed, waking up with a mouse in the toilet etc. with the whole thing built on the water the hygiene was a real issue. This whole area was covered in trash tbh. They put no pipes and whatever goes In the toilet goes directly into the ocean. Among all this was the attitude of the staff pissed us off. They offer no help at all and blame us for all the problems. Nothing is on time and the staff will be very annoyed by you if you keep asking. The diver master however was very cool and friendly tho.
