My wife and I, only living half a mile away, love old leigh high street, pubs, restaurants and beach but you really need to do your homework first, many events take place here in summer and autumn and parking or even walking can be nigh on impossible. Take the train or bus if you have to visit on a Sunday.... More

We sat by the sea wall and tucked into a delicious seafood platter, crab rolls and a side order of whelks, all washed down with a lovely mug of tea. All at a very reasonable price.

the seafood is to die for, fresh and tasty. loads of little shops and pubs where you can sit outside and watch the boats/ships go by. so relaxing

Tranquil and sociable! Walking through a walking fishing town you get a sense of belonging and purpose. The atmosphere and venues are excellent

It had been over 30 years since my last visit here and on the whole it was the same just slightly better condition. Due to the demise of the fishing industry the huge mounds of cockle shells are no more. This was a disappointment to me as I had hoped my grandson could do what his dad had done and... More

We walked here from Southend on sea a lovely walk along the shore ,if you like fish food this is the place to be , had a great fish platter in a pub on the front six pubs in one Main Street

Excellent pubs (particularly The Peterboat & Ye Olde Smack), great food, great views, and captures the sun all day long. Perfect spots to whilst away a lazy Sunday afternoon

Decided on a sunny Tuesday lunch so went to Old Leigh. Great choice. Quaint 'Aladins Cave' Shop, old fashioned stuff, new stuff, very unusual stuff, beautiful stuff I was really surprised. Friendly staff in there too. Café's there lovely, various pubs lovely, Ice Cream parlours lovely, nice bit of beach area to sit and relax. Even an old fisherman's cottage... More

nice and quirky, lots of lovely old buildings, nice sea front, tastefully merchandised, fab chips and ice cream stands down near the road end. council workers keep it nice and clean, toilets nice, well worth a visit
