We were fortunate to be the only couple to take the tour on this day so we had the full attention of Vaughan our tour guide. The ride itself was a lot of fun and Vaughan made it really interesting with his wealth of information about the history of the railway line and the communities along the way. We will... More

This was one of the best tourist experiences we've had. A very professional and friendly outfit. We stayed at their excellent motel and next day we were driven to the starting point of the rail trip by Kevin, our guide and train master. We were given clear instructions and a safety briefing, then one intrepid couple set of in the... More

We arrived the night before and stayed in the motel. Could not fault it, from the very friendly and helpful staff to the clean and comfortable room. The next day we joined the tour .From the moment we got on the bus, to returning to the motel we had an amazing day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made us... More

We couldn't fault the entire operation. From the moment we checked in to their lovely motel, the wonderful cooked breakfast, the safety briefing, the condition of their equipment, the very knowledgeable guide, the most amazing scenery, incredible engineering of the rail and tunnels, the yummy morning, afternoon tea and lunch - you can tell, we just thought it a very... We did the 5 tunnel tour and we well and truly enjoyed it from the moment we checked in, to the moment we caught the old timer bus back to where we originally checked in. Honestly, the ladies at reception greet you with a warm friendly Kiwi welcome and then you board the bus to more friendliness from the guys... More

My wife and I arrived early in Taumaranui as we travelled from home for a noon start. The office staff were excellent allowing us to eat out packed lunch in their dining room and answering all questions we had. We travelled to the start in our own car behind the bus as we wanted to get away as soon as... More

The nearest you'll get to being an engine driver! We recently completed the 5 tunnel trip on a beautiful autumn day. Magnificent scenery as a backdrop to a fun and very different day out, being largely in charge of your own destiny. Loved every aspect of it, the technical expertise of the building, being able to drive your own railcart,... More

We did the 5 tunnel trip on the motorized carts for my partner's birthday. It was great - lovely views and excellent customer service. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to do something a bit different. We're definitely coming back to do a longer one in summer with the peddle carts!

I recently took the 20 Tunnel Rail Cart Trip from Taumarunui to Whangamomona with a friend. It was so much fun and exceeded our expectations. The company was excellent in keeping us informed about the upcoming trip as the weather was not looking good. It did go ahead and we really enjoyed the changing scenery, our guide was informative and... More

This is a must do trip, put it on your bucket list. Did this trip on Saturday with 3 friends, there 20 people on our run in total of 8 rail carts, From the moment we arrived at the Lost World Motel, where we were greeted by their friendly ladies. Motel is older style (which suits), but the cleanest motel... More
