Amazing craftsmanship and still in excellent condition with very little damage over the centuries. Park in the lot just in front and make the easy climb to cave one, then a bit steeper to reach the other three. Heavily visited by Indians, few foreigners visible. Carved columns are magnificent. Takes only 60-90 minutes, but worth every minute.

Badami caves can boast of some of the most beautiful rock carvings in the country. Walls of each of the three caves is elaborately covered with carvings executed in great detail and finesse. A must see location.

Short climb. 4 caves. Nice views from top. Really liked the orangish red hues in the sandstone. Good information posted at all the caves. Needs 1.5 -2 hrs to visit.

There are four different man made caves here and one naturally formed cave. You can read the description of each cave and understand the significance...involves some physical activity to climb up from one cave to the other...very nicely maintained but many destroyed in the past...

Badami (earlier known as Vatapi) was the capital of early Chalukyas and had immense contributions to the Indian Temple Architecture. The Badami rock cut caves consists of four caves.Cave 1 is the only... More

I strongly recommend to spend good amount of time here to understand the architecture and the design of the temples. The geology of the place is very interesting, very different from the rest of Karnataka.

Amazing carvings, spread across the four caves. Each tells its own story and each carving has a meaning to it. The steps at some places are too big so need to take care while going up and coming down. View from top is amazing. There are four caves. There are lots of monkeys outside the caves and you can see... More
