Took a few days off to visit the Forest of Dean, mainly to mountain bike. Despite the weather being wet, had a great time. The Freeminer's trail was particularly challenging in the wet because of the roots, but still great fun. Atmosphere in cafe area was friendly and we enjoyed the food and drink in the cafe. Great facility and... More

Got our bikes from Pedalabikeaway which I would definitely recommend. Great family cycle trail that also has little sections adjacent to the track for kids to try out the more mountain bikey sort of bits. Even the actual mountain bike trails were quite comfortable and would be easily achievable by beginners.

We brought our own bikes so can't comment on the cycle hire here. We were surprised how busy it was for a midweek day in September after the schools had returned. Although parking is £3.50 a day, we also used the ticket at Symond's Yat later the same day. It's half the price of my local Forestry Commission cycling car... More

Fantastic ride for nearly three hours in the sun, wind and occasional heavy rain showers in the forest. Great surfaces to safely ride on. Exhilarating descents and not too difficult climbs. MATTHEW, at the bike pick up point was so enthusiastically helpful and made us feel we were in for a real cycling treat. Brilliant value on caringly serviced and... More

Took my family here and did the 11 mile family route in the direction suggested. What a terrific cycle path through the forest. Absolutely loved it. Some of the longer albeit gentle ascents were a bit taxing on what was a very hot day they were not so strenuous as to ruin the fun.And of course, if you go up,... More

I'm a road cyclist and not a MTB rider, I went with friends and really enjoyed the 7 mile Verderers trail. Will bring the kids when they're older.

Found ourselves with a sunny day so decided to give cycling a go. Easy, quick hire when we arrived. 3 hours minimum at a cost of £14.50 per head. As there were 5 of us we got a 10% discount too (which we had to remind them about). Great family trail with gorgeous views across the forest, we discovered pretty... More

My wife & I (no we are not just married, in fact we went on this ride on our 35th anniversary) hired bikes from the bike centre and had a fantastic 3 hours cycling around the 12 mile Family Route through the Forrest of Dean. The first 2 miles are on a slight incline but after that its very easy... More
