This great little award-winning and family-friendly Museum contains two fun and fact-packed biographical galleries, the fantabulous interactive Story Centre and a sunny courtyard. Situated in Great Missenden where Roald Dahl lived for over 36 years, it was created as a home for the author’s archive (which visitors can see on our regular tours) and as a place to inspire creativity and a love of reading in children, about which Roald Dahl was passionate.

Went with my twin 8 year old boys. Plenty to do and see. Went off for lunch after an hour then came back. Busy in half term but not horrendous. Suitable for younger and older children too. Only complaint was limited parking in the village to cater for the many visitors.

Dear Beth K, Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the Museum and that there was plenty to do and see. As you say we can get busy during half-term, but I'm glad this didn't seem to impact on your visit. We do limit numbers at busy times and stagger entry times throughout the... More

Its best if the kids can read relatively well to get the best out of this, Whilst it isnt the biggest of places, there are activities such as walking tours, readings and hands on crafting that make it worth a visit. The staff are great as well

We visited the museum as a family as my 3 children and I are all huge Roald Dahl fans. We travelled for an hour and a half to get there. The museum was easy to find and we were lucky to find a parking space in the village car park. It is a lovely, charming place and the entry fee... More

Dear Bucketandspader, Many thanks for your review and for your contructive feedback. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed many aspects of your visit such as Roald Dahl's writing hut - the interior of which has been moved from Roald Dahl's garden into the Museum - and the cakes in Cafe Twit. Thanks too for your suggestions and ideas, we're... More

£21 for a family ticket, so not badly priced. 3 rooms of info, 1 about him being a boy, 1 about him going to war then a room where you can re arrange some word cards to make silly a sentence..... that's it. Lots of his books lieing around to read. All nicely done, just no where near enough. A... More

Visited with my 5 year old daughter and she had a brilliant time. Lots of things to see and do and really gives a great insight into the life of Roald Dahl. If you love his books then you'll love this!

we went with our 3-year-old to the museum. Whilst he was still too young to fully understand, he loved the story-telling (every hour) and dressing up from the costume boxes. My wife and I loved learning more about the Roald Dahl. Very nice cake shop too.

We knew it was going to be small, but three smallish galleries and some well-interpreted exhibits is the sum of its parts. The Story bags with inspiration in the third gallery were uninspiring, filled with large print laminates and nothing else that my hopeful 8 year old could see. We left after just about 30 minutes, and headed for the... More

I must say that the reason that I gave this 5 stars is because our daughter is THE BIGGEST Roald Dahl fan in the world. This was her one MUST-DO when we went to the UK. It was fantastic for her. I'm not sure that everyone would get as much out of it, if you are not a huge fan.... More

We visited the museum as a family of four with two children, aged 8 and 11. We all enjoyed the museum, but as we are all serious fans of Roald Dahl and have read all his books, unfortunately there wasn't really much in the museum displays that was new to us (particularly as the museum is small). However, despite this... More
