If you are in the region now and contemplating this trip reconsider. We set out and the train struggled along, the smell of an overheating engine was soon apparent. After a rather scary moment on a suspension bridge we ground to a halt.we then waited an hour and a half for a bus to arrive to return us to the... More

A very chilled out experience. The scenery is stunning. Bring a picnic and go for a nice hike or walk wherever you decide to get off.

A highlight of our trip to Spain and Southern France, this was a magical trip into the Pyrennes. There are rumors that it may be too expensive to maintain these trains for too much longer. Don't wait, you might not have a chance to experience this in a year or two. Also recommend the early morning train if you are... More

We did a return trip from Villefranche to Bourge Madame and could not fault it. A definite must for lovers of trains, nature and a very good day out! Well operated and excellent value. A bonus was the fact that Bourge Madame was on the frontier with Spain! We had lunch at a bar immediately on the Spain side of... More

Le Train Jaune runs from Villefranche - Vernet-les-Bains to Latour de Carol, near the Spanish town of Puigcerda. The most spectacular part of the route is the section from the start at Villefranche, up as far as the small town and ski-resort area of Odeillo – Font-Romeu. Clinging the sides of the deep valley of the Tet, the line winds... More

What a super day out, it cost 39 euros for two adults no charge for our dog. Having read a review on trip advisor suggesting if you want to sit in one of the open carriages wait by the barrier, we did just that and managed to get seats facing the front of the train. There is about seating for... More

The journey from Villefranche up to Mont Louis is through some amazing scenery. Approx 75 minutes in length, Mont Louis is an ancient walled town well worth the 10 minute walk.We caught the train back 1 hour later. Thoroughly recommend

Having read about the little train, it was a must for our trip in the area. We stayed overnight in town and walked to the station. Since it was off-season no problem getting tickets. We elected to take the open car. We went to the end of the line and back again. The truly jaw-dropping part of the trip is... More
