Was taken to the museum by locals when visiting Chengdu. Not knowing what to expect, it was nothing that I expected to see. The large pieces were truly amazing (pictures don't do it justice). Don't even know where to start to describe what I saw....More

This is about an hour's drive from Chengdu proper. Well-planned exhibition spaces, English-language labels that more or less actually make sense. Not sure about the quality of the automatic audio guides as our group had a guided tour with a guide who's pretty competent and...More

The site is extremely important to our understanding of Chinese archaeology. Very well laid out although I felt there could have been better signage for what was closed. Very beautiful park surrounding the area.

This museum is all from a recent discovery from a farmer 25 years ago. Once is was discovered the bronze and gold items were 2,000, 3,000 and some up to 5,000 years old. An ancient civilization lived in this area and archaeologists are still working...More

This museum complex is located about 55 km from downtown Chengdu and is well worth the trip. This museum contains displays from a civilisation that little is known about. The artifacts were locally discovered and are very impressive and show great artisanship. Not far from...More

I can't say enough positive things about this museum. It's by far one of the best in China, from what I've seen. The collection is exquisite and quite well-labeled in English. The grounds are quite lovely and well-maintained. It's not the easiest to access from...More

This museum complex celebrates an ancient civilization (1500 BC - 700BC) which was only discovered in the 1980's. The museum sprawls in several buildings, one 'underground'. The latest in dramatic construction and display is represented here. The bronzes are some of the very impressive artifacts...More

Probably my favourite museum in China! The dark and gloomy atmosphere inside perfectly matched the greenish-golden bronze masks of this almost forgotten civilization. Discovered only in the 1980s, no historical record in the long dynastical history of China ever mentioned this stunning culture. Their aesthethics...More

We visited this museum with a tour group from Chengdu. Very impressed that a culture so very different from the Chinese culture existed here. A tour guide was provided for our group who explained the main points of the exhibits to us. The exhibits are...More
