Sanxingdui Museum is one of the most extraordinary museums in China. Not only does it boast a large number of amazing exhibits but also very impressively lit and designed galleries, which show the relics to wonderful effect. The first galleries show pottery and jade objects. These are interesting and well-displayed. However, the star here is the bronzes, which are world-class... More

This was the first time I was actually speechless when looking at artifacts in a museum. The Sanxingdui museum is set in a garden and composed of different rooms filled with excavated gold, jade and bronze artifacts from the capital city of the Shu Kingdom (ca. 1200-650 BCE). After the fall of this city, it is hypothesized that some of... More

三星堆遗址是四川省成都市特别著名的景点,位于中国西南部四川省成都市附近的广汉市。三星堆博物馆领土很大,但是只能参观两个陈列馆(综合馆和青铜馆)和祭祀台。 Sanxingdui is one of the ancient cultures which originated on the South-West of today's China. Originally, it was the site for sacrificial rituals of Shu people of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The Sanxingdui museum's territory is big, really enormous, but unfortunately there are only two exhibition pavilions and sacrifice stage. There are also car parking lot, VIP service building,... The museum is about 1 hours drive north east of chengdu. Offer it is bundled with a trip to the Panda Research zoo. The museum is really worth the trip. It has three large museum wings, each containing extraordinary artefacts, including a huge collection of fine jade ceremonial blades and weird bronze masks, from a civilisation thousands of years old.... This museum has lots of jade and bronze artefacts on display. Many don't have English translations. Our guide took us round and I think we could've seen it all much quicker - better to pick and choose what you are interested in. Good if weather is too hot or wet.

If you have been staying in Chengdu, you have had the chance to see the Chengdu city museum, the Sichuan provincial museum and the Jinsha Site Museum all of which feature the lost Shu civilization (1500-700BC). The finds in this museum..about a one hour drive from Chengdu, covers its earlier period (from 3000 BC) with unique pottery and a stunning... More

Bus #1 from central Chengdu, eg East Renmin Rd, to Zhaoju Temple bus station; there are some other buses that ply the same route, eg #64 if caught on the road east of the Wenshu Monastery complex. Once you got kicked out of the local bus at the terminus go to Zhaoju Temple coach station next door, get the ticket... More

We really enjoyed this excellent museum. It houses extremely sophisticated objects made here over 3,000 years ago, in three exhibition halls within attractive gardens. Countless paper thin ceremonial jade knives, dozens of haunting bronze masks and two massive bronze trees. Very well displayed, with all text in Chinese and English. 40 RMB to get in, and worth every penny. About... More

Not a lot to see or to do there, a ticket cost 80 RMB for almost nothing. You must show your ticket 5 times. The audiogide is realy bad and not worth the litle money (10RMB)

Thank Carsten K
