After left it for two years, I was back this April. I am glad to see this developing ancient town becoming more organized, more interesting and more convenient for tourists. We can take train from Chengdu to here. It only takes two hours. There are...More

Here is Langzhong Ancient Town in Sichuan. It is a very beautiful place. Here is full of the breath of ancient China. The whole town is very huge. I spent the whole afternoon to walk around there but I still couldn't walk all places. There...More

Langzhong Ancient Town is one of Four Great Towns of China, toghter with Lijiang ancient town, Pingyao ancient town and Huizhou ancient two. But when I traveled there, I found that there were no many crowd tourists there. Many tourist sites in the town, such...More

Among the four or five typically Han ancient towns in China this is definitely my favourite The houses are, of course, restored and fit for touristic use, but (compared to other so-called ancient towns) Langzhong is done with so much taste! The charm is totally...More

Langzhong is a really beautiful place, the streets are quite quiet but still lively. Compared to Lijiang or Dali, the town is way less commercial, there not so many tourists and you can still see the real life of the city. There's a few interesting...More

This is a "for real" ancient part of town. It's loaded with street vendors, restaurants and it's a very active site. The "ancient" buildings are just that. No phony stucco over prefab or concrete. Lots of walking. A fun way to spend an afternoon and/or...More

Unlike many other artificial "ancient towns" that were built with cement in recent years, the old houses and courtyards in Langzhong are original. As a major tourist attraction in Sichuan, it has not been ruined by commercialization. You can still see local residents living their...More

This is a very nice old town. It's a lot smaller than Lijiang but definitely less touristy. It's good to visit soon before large throngs of international (and local) tourist groups invade the place. We stayed 2 nights within the old town which gave us...More

We are planning a trip to China next Easter 2017 and have 2 days to spare (to include travelling into, 1 night stay and travel out from) so I was hoping to squeeze in a visit to an ancient town. I'm thinking Lanzhong from Chengdu but wondered if the buses carry luggage as we are a family of 5 with large suitcases each! Any advice is much appreciated. We will stay overnight at Lanzhong.

Hopefully the reply is not too late. Now there are regular trains from Chengdu to Langzhong, which take 2-3hours. Bus is more frequent once one hour. you can carry all your luggages on train and bus.
