Not much to see on the inside, but viewing the outside reveals a grand medieval fortress. We kept exploring the interior, hoping to find something remarkable, but we couldn't. Just cruise by or walk around.

We walked from our ship up the waterway leading directly to this structure. Structure is still in good shape with good views. There isn't much to look at inside but it was only $1 to get in. Nice craft venders selling homemade art works

Although it has been converted to prison from the Turks, this small castle is the only one survived the Ottoman era in a relatively good shape. The view from it is nice, so is the local beach nearby. There is a small chapel, inquisition room, the towers are nice and some of the prison cells have interesting architecture.

This well preserved fortress is probably the main and most famous attraction in the town of Vidin. It's walls and inner space are qute interesting and definitely worth a visit if you're around. Moreover, the view of the Danube from the fortress itself is pretty amazing, so it's recommended to visit the inner part of Baba Vida. There is an... More

Well preserved, and definitely worth the price of admission (free), this is a must see while in Vidin. Don't expect too much, as there is little in the way of relics from when the encampment was built. Vidin itself is a very sad sight, as the city and economy is in a state of disrepair. Although years since the Communists... More

Very easy to see as we approached on the Danube River. A short drive by way included as part of our bus tour of Viden. It dates back to the 10th century and survived as a defensive stronghold thru out the Middle Ages. It is now a museum but we didn't have time to go inside.

Baba Vida is definitely worth the visit and is a hidden little gem in Vidin. The fortress has some fantastic history and a nice photo display of Vidin in times gone by. It's worth climbing to the top as the view across the river is excellent. Try not to go on a wet day as the cobblestone would be very... More
