- Ruska B30 contributionsThree female friends: We recommendWe hired a driver in Pune and we saw three places together: first bhaja caves, second lohagad fort and lastly Birla Ganesh Temple. Definitely worth to visit! The Bhaja cave is truly impressive, you go uphill for about 15-20 minutes and that's it. At the Lohagad fort we saw monkeys and we had a great view. (there were lots of people) Keep in mind that It's important to have a bottle of water with you (There are shops at the beginning of the road). It has lot more to offer as walk n trekking when you reach up, so start from stairs only as I stated from low as I wanted to trekking didn’t know it has so much more on top. It’s worth it as it has a great view from topVisited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 21 January 2024
- AmulAwasthyPune, India4,118 contributionsAll Time FavouriteOne of the best One Day Trek near Pune. We often visit this place for one day excursion. There are multiple ways to reach this place. One is Via Malvali , Another is via Pavna (Dhudhiware Khind) or Go bit ahead on the Old Highway and than toch the Lohgad road. Steps are well maintained and there are multiple Stalls here. Beaware of Monkeys here. They often try to snatch the belongings (Specially the Shining Ones) Trek is easy and Fun to Complete. Walk upto Vinchu Kata is mesmerizing. If you start early than you can cover this in half day & Come back to Pune after Lunch.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 February 2024
- GouraangMumbai, India1 contributionLohagadAbsolutely amazing place. The view is amazing. You just feel so connected with nature. The trek is relatively easy and yet exciting also. Highly recommend visiting this place, especially in the monsoons, but be careful of Slipping! The path gets very slippery due to mud, yet it makes for a fun and memorable experience!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2024

A must watch place with kids. Good trek with family. A lot of scenic view and cool breeze till the main door of the Fort. After that steps are not in good condition. Amazing view of Pawana Dam and all other area. A worth trip.
Be careful if you driving from Karla to Bhaja cave to Lohgad .
Its Steep Zigzag road hence all the new driver please do not attempt to drive unless you have skilled driver right next to you. Its only one car drive hence try to go via alternate route (Dudhiware khind)
Comparatively road from Dudhiware khind road to Lohad and back to Lonavala or Pune is comparative good and has less steep zigzag uphill curves. Its comparatively two vehicle passing road. And only problem is that road condition not good

Try to reach in the morning to start your trek and to be back after enjoying sunset. It is good one day trek surrounded by beautiful view and natural beauty. On the top you find Temple and awesome views. Good for photography lovers. You can enjoy the 360 degree views of surrounding places. Be careful while trekking as the steps near the top are very slippery specially during the rainy season. Spend some time at the top and enjoy. No facility is available at this place so be careful of any fall .

Great, albeit a bit challenging hike. Views along the hike and at the top are amazing. Place was undergoing restoration, so a bit of a mess to walk around, but nothing too crazy. A true gem of Marathas!

If you love trekking and if you are into historical places, then it is recommended. Not at all a place to chill out and relax, because you need to trek a little to reach. No information about the fort is available there. So grab all info from wiki, if you want to know about the fort and its history.

This fort reminds the times of chatrapati Shivaji. Though only ruins are remaining but visiting this place was a good experience. you can see ancient GUNs (Tops). Stairs inside the fort ,are not in good condition so one has to be careful.

Avoid it, might be too much to reach the top and it is not so safe as people say
Written 24 December 2019

Is it possible to complete both Visapur and Lohagad fort in single day??
Written 7 July 2019
Yes. Probably if you start early and take your vehicle as much higher as it is possible ( considering the traffic and weather) , then you can spend time on both the forts.
But again it will depend upon how much time you take to trek. You can complete the Lohgad by 1pm and then visit visapur.
