My wife and I visited the Jain Temple in Ranakpur during a tour of northern India. Located 90km north of Udaipur, the temple is hidden away in a beautiful forested valley and boasts unbelievable marblework. The Temple dates back to 1439 and due to destruction by various invaders has been totally restored to its former glory. The entry ticket (200... More

A restored 14 th century white marble temple, not to be believed until seen. Intricate carvings on walls, columns, ceilings. Marble statues everywhere. Excellent audio guide given to all entrants. Not easy to get to, but a must!

This is an extremely well maintained religious place which is worth a visit. You don’t have to be a religious person to appreciate the beautiful architecture of the Jain Temples. As in many Jain Temples across India the temple premises is very neat and clean with security personnel. The temple premise is expansive which houses a canteen, toilets, etc. The... More

We were travelling from Udaipur to Chanoud Garh and this made a convenient and interesting stop. We were met by a guide (which we hadn't expected). Only guides from the local area are allowed to take visitors around the temple. The workmanship in the temple is wonderful - all marble and so many pillars! There were quite a few people... More

Arrived early, so walked around the grounds and took a few pictures, with permission, of families preparing to visit the temple. Stood in line to buy ticket and rent pants. Temple was incredible as was learning about the worship practices. A must see.

We came from Udaipur to this temple and the road is quite winding and rough but with a local driver it is ok. A four wheel drive vehicle would be even better but not essential. It is worth the rough drive to see this temple. The size and number of beautiful marble columns is quite amazing and it's 500 years... More

Though it may not be the easiest place to get to, this temple was a highlight of my trip - it is truly spectacular! It is not talked about enough and if you can it is well worth seeing! Remember though, everyone, even boys need to be in long trousers and sarongs do not count for girls. But don't worry... More

I am a Catholic and I wasn't interested to go to this temple at first. We had to make a stopover here as it was amidst the long drive between Udaipur and Jodhpur. But my 90 minutes at this temple was worth it's time. I was awed by the astounding architecture and the serenity of this place. If you love... More

The Ranakpur is approx 110 Kms away from Nathdwara. Best way to reach is by private cars. The temple is excellent. The architecture of temple is extra ordinary. U can take guide to understand the temple. Natural cooling of temple is extra ordinary and so peaceful place. Near there is mess where u can get prasadi food.

By the time we got to Ranakpur, which is in the middle of nowhere, I was pretty templed-out. But coming here was worth it. Very different to any Hindu temple and extremely intricately carved, it was good to see such a wonderful example of Jain architecture. Do go and see it. I've given it three stars for three reasons: 1)... More
