Beautiful lake but the scale is not as big as what I thought. The emerald colour of the lake would be more stand out in Autumn. There are crescent moon bend, fairy bay etc. We saw some horses but no wild swan.

A must item on anyone's bucket list - especially the lake. The drive from Urumqi was a beautiful experience. The overnight stay at the hotel makes the trip less taxing.

It is not easy to go to Xinjiang, and even more difficult to get to Kanas National Geopark, taking about 2 days drive from Urumiqi. That said, it is worth to go there. You will get satisfied by the really wonderful and stunning views there....More

We went there by taking a "Northern Xinjiang" tour package from this travel agent CTC based in Singapore. Since I can't post link, a quick google on keywords I mentioned should get you the information you need.
