This was originally not on our itinerary but I am so grateful we went. Against the back drop of Mt Fuji is a quaint village of yesteryears that is postcard scenery. The outside area is crowded as there is no admission cost. You can catch...More

It is a beautiful clear water lake where we can see the bottom of the lake which is 8 meter deep. There is also a shop beside where we can taste nice taufu and buy local products.

This was one of the stops from our Fuji tour and the highlight of my day. You have Mount Fuji in the background, Eight Koi ponds, beautiful picturesque houses and flower gardens, and, street food for sale all around the village. This is a must...More

We go there end of March & see the whole place covered in snow. Can't manage to cover the whole place due to snow covered road. Warm Fish Tofu on a cold day is a plus. Lots of Japanese pickles to bring back home 😅

Easily accessible by local bus from Kawaguchiko station. The village has 8 small ponds with crystal-clear waters. Apparently these water origins from the molten snow of Mount Fuji. There are also shops selling souvenirs and stalls selling street snack and strawberries. Trust me, the strawberries...More

From the bus parking area, we had to walk for hundreds meters to reach this place. There were some ponds where natural springs gave nice natural views. There were also a food market and some food stalls around.

We stopped in at Oshino Hakkai on the way from Fujiyoshida to Lake Yamanaka. It is a really beautiful little village and you get a great view of Mt Fuji. The clear water ponds filled from the snow that melts off the slops surrounding Mount...More

Lucky to have a crystal day. In Oshino Hakkai Springs, you could find free parking lot, lots of shops for tourist. However, the ponds were too clear and fun to miss them. Fishes were visible! We spent here around 1-2 hours with lunch.

I was lucky to visit on a clear day, so I had amazing views of Mt Fuji. The ponds were crystal clear which added to the serenity of the village. There are lots of little stalls selling a variety of Japanese snacks and foods.

Oshino is very famous for its beautiful water of Mt. Fuji. Also you can enjoy Japanese Soba noodles, or Tohu both needs good water. 忍野八海は富士山の湧き水で有名で、美味しい水を使った蕎麦や豆腐も食べられます。 透き通った水を覗くと、川魚の姿も。

I will be visiting Fuji Shibazakura Festival and Gotemba during my 2N stay at Hakone Yumoto. May I know how do I travel to Oshino Hakkai from these places? How long is the journey?

If you are in Fuji Shibazakura festival, you can take the Shibazakura liner to Kawaguchiko station (河口湖駅), then take Mt. Fuji World Heritage loop bus to Oshino Hakkai directly. Duration is around 30 mins, fee is 1030 yen... More
