It's worth taking your time passing this bridge into Hospital de Orbigo. You may even go down to its root and imagine when the honorable knight hundreds of years ago invited knights from all over Europe to fight him on the top of the bridge...More

This was a beautiful bridge and fun to photograph. The views from the bridge were also beautiful. We watched storks fly across the river to the bell tower. The history added so much to the setting and I was inspired to learn even more detail...More

A piece of history right in the Camino to Santiago. A long, beautiful and well preserved bridge - deservedly one of the best examples of Roman/medieval bridges in Spain.

In 1434 Don Suero de Quinones broke 300 opponents lances for a matter of honour and this is commemorated each year in Summer with a jousting tournament below the bridge when the river is low.

Nice old Stone bridge on the Camino de Santiago. It looks like many similar bridges ones sees crisscrossing Spain. This one just happens to be longer.

We found Astorga a great place to visit because of the many historic places and sights such as this - as a 'city' it was one of the highlights on our Camino pilgrimage.

The views of this massive, most impressive bridge are wonderful. We detoured off the main road to get to it, and parked and walked up to see it. Pilgrims still traverse it as they have for centuries. Worth a quick look.

Absolutely stunning and impressive Gothic bridge with a very interesting legend. Standing on the bridge, you can easily imagine the jousting competitions that took place in medieval times.
