You can't imagine how little I wanted to tour a coffee farm. My wife said we are going, so...we went. We got there a few minutes before 10am (started at ten) and were met with a US person who lives in CR several months a year. He was very friendly - came to volunteer his services to the farm. The... A wonderful not-to-miss experience. Make a reservation ahead and stay for lunch. Awesome tour, awesome people - like other reviewers have said. We did not find it difficult to find - use Google Maps and give yourself time. Be sure to save room to buy a few pounds of coffee.

Our visit was to get our bags of coffee to bring back to the States. Had a cup of Toledos best while we waited for the bags, Had a good visit with Gabriel who is always looking for ways to leave a little less of a footprint on the earth. He is working now on and idea to use the... More

I thought I knew a lot about organics, but Gabriel's tour was eye opening. He is knowlegeable, passionate, and committed to his craft. Not only did I learn a lot about coffee, but so much about his practice and why he believes in what he does. He, and his entire family who works with him, is delightful and welcoming. We... More

Wow! We were definitely pleasantly surprised by this informative coffee tour. It was so much more than that. Gabrielle and Brian are so passionate about the farm and what they do. So informative. Great interactions. Gabriel is excellent with his presentation, speaks perfect English and takes the time to answer all questions. Bryan the guide is very clear and concise on his tour. A must do is to stay for lunch, it is really really good. Good walking shoes are necessary.

I just can't say enough about this 7 acre family owned, self sustaining, organic coffee farm! We were fortunate enough to end our 12 day stay in Atenas, Costa Rica with a friend who lives there 6 months out of the year! He knows the Calderon family well and recommended we take the tour! We began by learning how the... More

We loved this tour of an organic coffee farm in Atenas, Costa Rica! The owners and their staff were wonderful hosts and tour guides and gave us a a great background summary of the coffee farm business and how El Toledo decided to become an organic/permaculture operation. Visitors get to see the process and tour the grounds and taste the... More

This is a great tour! As is the case with most things around Atenas - the drive is a challenge but well worth it. If you can do the tour be sure and include a reservation for lunch. You DO NOT want to miss this experience. We had lunch in a family member's home. Be ready - local, home made... More

I have to say what a great experience we had. A highlight on a amazing trip we learned so much and felt so welcome. A little hard to find but if you just follow the GPS you will get there. This is not a big commercial farm tour but a local family farm and they will give you a personal... More
