Full of history and presented in a very classy way I recommend this place We arrived by car from the east coast up the steep Cherry Tree hill past a working windmill to a view point at the top - a number of busses, taxis etc making it rather congested. Once past that you arrive at St Nicholas Abbey. The... More

If you don't go, I promise you're missing out. It was such a special spot. We got to see the sugar cane crushed into syrup and watched a little movie about the mill and sailing from England and Barbados in the 1930s. I really enjoyed going. The only thing is you are not allowed to go upstairs to view other... More

A must for history nerds and/or rum drinkers. Buy the aged rums here. The 12 year old rum is the best I have had and best enjoyed with a few ice cubes and a wedge of lime.

This place has gardens plantation house and steam powered sugar cane crushing machinery and distillery to brew rum. It's well worth the visit rum punch and tasters of two rims with a good cave on site.

St Nicholas Abbey was a very worthwhile stop, while riding around Barbados. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the home is quite spectacular. There is also a rum distillery on site and you can walk through the barns to see how things work. Admission included a free drink, but you were also able to taste other rums that they made.... More

Despite the religious name this is a rum plantation / distillery and a museum which is well worth a visit. There is an interesting old film showing life on the sugar plantation in the 1930s. As rum is my tipple I had to purchase a bottle of the nectar with my personalised engraved name on it - that will be... More

A gem, hidden away from major tourist eyes. Pick your day when the cane press is working. Food good, staff lovely. If you like rum, and have a good bank balance, buy one of the special bottles, with your name engraved. Will go back. Thanks to all the staff.

Having visited many times before we thought that this time we would not go for the full tour but just a trip to the shop to buy some rum and rum cake, followed by coffee and cakes on the beautiful terrace. On arrival we were abruptly told that we could not do this and everyone would have to pay 45... More

Not a long visit needed here but it was interesting to see how the sugar cane is pressed for the sugar syrup.
