You can't see the castle from the road or even the car park, as it is 450 metres up the hill. It is an interesting example of an early renaissance castle in Scotland, though there is not as much left as there is with other...More

Quite a steep walk up so be prepared. Steps inside castle are stone, thin and winding. Not suitable for very young, elderly or infirm. Saying that - it is a superb castle and as it has been made safe but left alone, it is atmospheric...More

This was a very interesting castle to visit and explore. There were multiple boards they had historical information about the castle that were very informative.

Popped in as we were visiting the area, castle has some intact rooms & staircases - fantastic views from the top (if you don't mind steep spiral stairs!) Lovely setting.

Walked from Kilmartin ( about 3km) Informative plaques telling history of place and linked in with what we had discovered about the Campbells at Inveraray Castle yesterday. Climbed spiral stairs to top which gave good view of valley.

Walking inside and climbing the spiral staircase to the top of the tower is a treat. Very few visitors, a must for adventurous children.

The castle is a short uphill stretch from the car park but worth it. Not the biggest castle but nice ruins and a good view down the Glen to be had.
