Altamount is a family favourite and no time is better than when the absence is bordered by golden daffodils dancing in the sun. Altamount is a historic garden now owned by the state and one which is certainly worth a visit if in the area. Lovely walk around the lake and you can even go down to the River slaney... More

This place is a gem. Given the diverse nature of the gardens and how extensive they are, I am impressed by how well maintained they are. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy nature and take a stroll.

These gardens are a delight, we went to see the snowdrops, as they have a huge selection of snowdrop varieties. We also will go back to the gardens as we realsied that a lot of the trees, rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias and the perennial beds had to flower. So it is a garden you can visit year round and enjoy. When... More

We visited Altamont Garden this week. The Snowdrops are in bloom and in great variety. Don't be totally dazzled by them or you may miss the Hellebores, Winter Aconites or Witch hazel in bloom. The walk through the glen and by the river is lovely and very different in the winter. This garden is very romantic at any time of... More

Beautiful woodlands & gardens, open to the public for just the car parking fee of €2...incredible! Great spot for family picnics, romantic strolls or wedding photography. The late Corona North would have been delighted to see how her lifetime's work is being enjoyed by countless generations.

Beautiful gardens at any time of the year. Really well kept and there is a lovely little café nestled in the centre of a garden centre. Probably the nicest gardens we have visited in Ireland. Can't say any better than that !

Gosh what a beautiful hidden gem. Whilst the weather was a little "soft" it certainly didn't dampen our spirits when we visited these stunning gardens. Much variety & thoughtful planting.
