Coin de Mer island is visible from here. Mass is twice per day – one can then enter the church. Ideal for a red landmark in Mauritius!Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 June 2024

"PostCard" type pics can be taken from any angle at this place. But the experience has reach a new level with the beach BBQ available at "Chez Claudio" which is just besides the church. BBQ just besides the beach, excellent food, music / ambiance, with a view at the church...BBQ is a bit pricy, and totally worth it...Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 August 2024

The church's distinctive red roof makes it a tourist attraction. It's located near the beach, and some locals and tourists choose it as a venue for weddings. While it lacks historical significance, it's worth a stop if you have spare time. The church is situated at the north tip of Mauritius island.

Cap Malheureux is a fishing village at the most northerly tip of Mauritius. It means Cape Unlucky because of shipwrecks in this spot including the sinking of the vessel Saint Geran at nearby Amber Island.
This is a distinctive red roofed Roman Catholic church that has made this village very popular as it attracts tourists taking pictures and some say newlyweds 'faking' church weddings. Its easy to get here even by bus as it lies a few miles north of Grand Baie.

Driving eastwards along the coastal road from Pereybere Beach and Mont Choisy Beach will lead to Cap Malheureux and this lovely Notre Dame Auxiliatrice church. The small church enjoys a beachfront location and this makes it a perfect venue for weddings as well as for couples who drop by to take their wedding pictures.
Inside, there are just ten rows of wooden pews arranged under a pitched ceiling that is supported by wooden rafters. The small worship space and ambience evoke a sense of serenity.
This church makes a lovely stop when visiting Grand Baie.

My wife, our 8 years old kid and myself went for the second time to see and visit this beautiful red church, which is probably the most famous one in Mauritius Island. It is located in Cap Malheureux and gives a lot of nice photos possibilites.
Well, if in Mauritius, do not hesitate to visit it, you need 1 hour maximum and that's it.

Beautiful church at a beautiful beach setting. The church is stunning and stands out with it’s red roof, there was a wedding taking place when we visited and as the doors were open were able to look in at the ceremony. Very close, on the beach with lovely views out to Coin de Mire.
