Chicaque (pronounced Chi-car-kay because I always mis-pronounce it) is a pretty huge national park about an hour´s drive from Bogota. I came here 3 years´ ago and the 3km road to the entrance has really deteriorated. Fortuitously the rest of it is still as good now as it was then. Entry was reasonable at COP 15,500 per person. Both times... More

I recommend it, nevertheless it is expensive compared to other places in Colombia and it has a lot of service lacks. First, the transportation they offer is not trustful. They helped me arrange a car to go from Soacha (Terreros station) to the park; it arrived one hour later and charged double the price of an Uber. To go back,... More

Really enjoyed this park. There are various good trails and it was very quiet on a Saturday morning. Cloud forest scenery is amazing and there are some great viewpoints. It is downhill one way though, and then you have to walk back up (or you can get a car to drive you back). We walked both ways which was OK,... More

This was a trip out of Bogota 30km which took 2 hours due to traffic. A lovely walk down the hillside in cloud forest on an old trade route, paved all the way (otherwise it would be very muddy). Go down from 2700m to 2100m for lunch at refuge. We caught a land rover back up the hill for $12k... More

This nature park which is quite close to Bogota is nice daytrip from Bogota. Bring your walking shoes. Because there is a lot walking involved. You can walk down to the restaurant and walk back up, or take a horse or car. The views are great and you see atruly misty forest

We slept in the Refugio, room 203. This is right next to the toilet and you can literally hear people piss and fart while you sleep. There are lots of mosquitos. For that experience it was too expensive. Otherwise, a very nice park and nice to get away from Bogota. But watch out, there are no early buses back to... More

A fantastic park to visit which is south of the city. For fit people, this is a great walk. First, you start at 2700 metres and walk down to 2000 steep in places). At the bottom, there is a restaurant with great food. This place caters for groups and there are group activities which can be relaxing or extreme. I... More

This is a natural setting for different animals. In fact I saw some animals I have never seen in Africa. There was a bird that is so big, and i was told that it signifies something to Colombians but i have forgotten. I sent about 3 hours moving round the park.

This place is absolutely amazing! It's not easy to get there, but places difficult to reach are beautiful because there isn't many people and you can find peace :) I'm going to take some time to explain how to get by public transportation, it's totally doable. My friend and I took the Transmilenio to San Mateo and we got of... More
