Starting just outside Zakros, you can walk for just over 2 hours down this fairly easy gorge, with just a very few boulders to scramble over. The caves are everywhere, high and low on the gorge sides, which were used as tombs for their dead...More

We headed out from MakriGialos and really enjoyed the dramatic scenery over the mountains and down to the East coast. We'd gone anticipating getting a taxi from Kato Zakros to entrance A but under estimated how tiny it is and there were none. Luckily a...More

OK, this gorge is not that much about the death, but is a beautiful place on Crete worth to be visited. We have approached the gorge from both sides - from the Kato Zarchos (from bottom) and from the top, where the gorge "started". Nice...More
