At first glance, it may look like all the other temples in town, but if you go in a little more (pass the photo opportunity area) you'll find the snake breeding ground/garden. You'd be forgiven to think it's just a garden with trees for decoration purposes, but bear in mind there are snakes lurking within the tree branches. Spent a good 30 minutes looking around and finding snakes to snap photos of - and they were worth it!

This was my first destination after taking my breakfast. The building is classical. You can see the snake in the temple but you are not allowed to touch them without any permission. If I am not mistaken, they provide the photography service with the snakes. There are some souvenirs store outside the temple to let tourist buy some souvenirs.

A good way to see some of the local sites, as this island is not very big a few short trips will give you a feeling for the place Penang hill also known as flag staff hill is worth a visit when on a clear day you have good views all around The snake temple is interesting though may not be everyone's choice The other temple on the hill is worth a visit also for the views, but you need to be reasonable mobile due to the location Getting around on the roads is an experience as like a lot of far eastern locations there is large amount of traffic on the roads so getting around can be slow The nice thing for the British, Australian and New Zealand travellers is that the driving is on the same side of the road as at home

Quick visit (10 min) to this small temple with live vipers. Nice pictures to do in the room with the vipers. Avoid the commercial picture with pythons.... It can be done on the way to the airport.

Came here because I heard so much about a temple filled with snakes. To get here requires a 15 minute bus ride from the main tourist area of George Town. The bus virtually stops outside the temple, or you can just ask the bus driver to let you know when to get off. The temple is not that big and there are certainly snakes there, 10s of them in the temple. There’s something very odd about poisonous snakes that are so docile.
