It can be hard to recreate in your imagination what a Roman settlement was like in its heyday but English Heritage do a splendid job here with the audio guides and signage.

Visited on a chilly, wet August day and in spite of the weather spent a very enjoyable, informative afternoon. Had no idea how extensive the ancient city was and it was so interesting learning more. Suggest you use the free audio units if you visit...More

Being a bit of a Roman geek I have been promising myself that I would visit this place. On a lovely early July morning I set off to fulfil this promise. I was not disappointed as it is an interesting site all laid out for...More

The Roman city is a great place to visit for an interesting insight into Roman times. Although not much of the city remains the provided audio guide brings everything to life.
