Beware!! Tourist trap
Jun 2021 • Family
Avoid this place unless you enjoy sitting crammed with tons of people on a pavement and paying 7 euros for it. Didn’t get to see the museum tour because I gave up after queuing for 40 minutes in the sun.
And you are not allowed to bring your own drinks or food.
Add 7 euros for parking.
This is a horrible tourist trap. The worst I’ve experienced in Sicily.

Good beach with snorkeling options
Sep 2020
Good beach and there are decent snorkeling possibilities around the small islands and inlets just around the beach.

Amazing place
Sep 2020
We went for a wedding in Early October and it was fantastic. It is an incredible location, super romantic. Superb views.
The access to the beach is not fantastic but you can swim.
Highky recommended to go for a boat tour and to sleep there. At sunset the place becomes a dream.

Former tuna fish factory
Sep 2020
Another old tuna fish factory that was turned into an heritage center. Unfortunately, not only you need to pay for the parking, but also for a ticket to enter (8 eur). Considering we had paid 6 eur in Favigniana for a 90 min tour to a similar place, we thought this was outrageous.

We had fresh oysters and sea bass in a sald crust. They were delicious. The pasta was basic and the apetisers could be better. The setting is really Nice as you sit at the harbor.

Absolutely awful

We drove for an hour and a half Marsala to Tonnara di Scopello hoping to catch a glimpse of the picture postcard view and whip around the museum. We were charged €7 each despite it being 5pm and the complimentary sun lounger was not going to be used. Couldn’t see the view for nearly 1000 bodies crammed on the jetty and around the small bay. You can only visit the museum as part of a tour. We had missed the English language tour that was at 4pm, I think. The next one was at 5.30pm but there was no way my grasp of the Italian language could keep up with anything that was being said. The exhibition comprises of two rooms and a courtyard. The first had some good portraits of gnarly old fishermen. The second had some old fishing equipment hung on the wall and a diagram showing what I imagine was how the nets work but don’t really know. I felt exceedingly overdressed as everyone else were wearing Speedos or bikinis. I sneakily hung back and took some forbidden photos just to record an all round dreadful experience!

I don't know if it is worth it
Sep 2019
The view is fantastic, exceptional!
This is the location of the last scene of Ocean XII when Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta Jones meet La Marque (is it written correctly?).
The incredible shades of blue of the sea, from sapphire to emerald passing by turquoise, and the red of the walls of this special house, the rocks on the sea again...everything is perfectly in place for a memorable picture.
But should you pay for this 8 euro per person and another 5 or more for the parking outside?
Just for a picture?
Because staying there won't be that fun as most of the time it is overcrowded.
And the museum is really not worth it.
I've attached some pictures...
I'll let you decide.

An old fishing establishment
Nov 2019
The Tonnara di Scopello is an old tuna fishing establishment, with several buildings right on the sea, which used to lodge the fishermen and their families. The site is gorgeous, with wonderful rock formations and the cleanest sea, and definitely worth a visit.

Lovely setting but over rated
Oct 2019 • Friends
This setting with the tuna sheds in the foreground, clear blue water and large rocks in the ocean is the definitive photo used whenever picturesque Scopello is written about

It is lovely but undermined by the fees charged to visit it -
5€ for the parking and 7€ per person for access. Be aware that you are really just paying for a close up look at the view and a quick tour of the tuna factory and associated sheds

There is NO beach. Your area of access is tiny and entry to the water is via a concrete ramp.

The visit is not worth the money
