If you ever want to understand the place where you stand, you must visit Fuerte de San Felipe. The Fuerte is a lovely construct with great views of Lake Bacalar and the town. Delve in a little closer and read the history of the area....More

It is quite nice and for the price of 73 pesos ok. The view is quite nice. The museum in the central building is ok but you can see that nothing was done in the last 10 years.

Interesting 18th century fortress with typical functional quasi-military architecture. You can visit the site on your own and it is relatively easy and straight forward but if you have a group of five of more you can ask for a tour.

Unimposing but interesting enough to spend an hour or so. The modest but informative museum alone is worth the visit.

Bit pricey for what it is...entrance more than many ruins. The exposition explaining more about history and Mayan trade is interesting as is the skeleton and the magnificent views.
