The Citadel is one of the best-preserved 16th century fortresses in the Nordic countries, built by King Christian III of Denmark between 1549 and 1559. In the 1800s the Citadel was used as a prison for convicts with life sentences and for vagrants. Then it was converted to a women's prison that was in use until 1940. There is a cafe in the grounds and you can fish in the moat.

There's no admission for the area around the fortress but if you'd like to go inside the Citadel, you'd need to go on a guidad tour. It costs 75 SEK for adult and 40 SEK for children (7-15)

Well this is my hometown so all I have to say is good things, it is quiet nice place, very small with about 40000 people.

Landskrona a late medieval town located at the shores of Øresund founded early in the 15th century. Landskrona citadel was initially built 1549–1559 as a purely defensive fortification with two complete moats, the inner with a width of 70 metres. It is amazing place when you can learn a lot about history of the town, citadell, fortifications and many other.... More

It was part of my many castles through out Sweden tour and the time allocated to it was well worth it. It is a busy location, many locals go there for a scroll in the park. It was on a Saturday and the weather was perfect for mid September, there were lots of local people around. I couldn't get in,... More

I was here in winter 2011-2012, it was amazing. The citadel is beautiful, although it was winter it wasn't snowing, weather was nice for exploring the citadel.

Walk around (3km) the castle that is build in the 1300s, overseeing Öresund, island Ven and Denmark. The castle is located in the heart of Landskrona so you can either bring your coffee or enjoy it at a close by coffeeshop

More great history to absorb from this amazingly maintained castle and moat. there were no tours when we were there but still great just walking around and reading the blurbs available. This was once a prison and there are pictures of the men & women inmates from the time. This would be an amazing site lit up at night

The structure popped up on google maps. So when we stayed in the neighborhood we stopped by. The stroll around was better than the buildings. I was a little disappointed with the buildings. The significance of the buildings was in the 17th century. Later it was used as a prison.

I spotted the moats when using Google Maps. Because of the unusual shapes, I took a detour to visit Landskrona. The fort itself is just OK but I was impressed with the moats. Lots of interesting history.

A really nice little "castle" which gives you it's history of it's own. I really liked the hall with all the pictures and interesting history information, thow it's sentences, in a little building to the right when you come into the Citadell

I live right down the road from the Citadel. It is a beautiful and peaceful place with many people visiting with bikes, dogs, strollers, and cars. Many people here (including me) find this a very good place to go running, and is a very lovely outdoor walk. The citadel and its moats are very well maintained and people who keep... More
