Take your time, the exhibits are educational and interesting. Lots of hands-on stations, even a laboratory for kids (which our teenagers enjoyed for quite a while). Food for thought as well- many questions towards our future.

This attraction tells the story of the ages of the universe and more importantly mankind and the earliest signs of creation. Fairly quick tour set on the outer hills of johansburg. Beautiful spot to have an picnic afterwards.

Spent a great day learning all about the first discovery of humanity. Very informative and interactive, which makes it more interesting for kids too.

Nothing like learning about 100s of millions of years of humankind to put a single existence in perspective. Well worth the time. No need to hire a tour guide as the cave tour has its own guide and the museum at Maropeng is self-guided, but...More

Worth a visit especially for budding scientists and children. As an adult I found the first 15min the most fascinating with the rest of the tour focused on children but very well done. The setting in bushveld is very scenic and quiet

I didn't quite know what to expect, but was entertained and educated all at once. An excellent and engaging presentation of human history. The static information exhibits were clear and told the story and the boat ride was an unexpected and fun experience.

A great couple of hours was spent here. What an interesting place. The centre is very informative - if slightly confusing ! Here you will find an interactive centre which will hold your attention.

I would agree with the earlier answer. Our visit to view the exhibition and the caves took between 3 and 4 hours.

If you are not adverse to driving, a rental car is the best option. It will be much cheaper than booking a tour for two and will allow you to visit other sites such as the nearby Sterkfontien Caves on your own schedule... More
