Two ends of the dam are at the town Burla and Hirakud respectively. Both Hirakud and Burla town are within 20KMs from Sambalpur with regular bus service. Best place to visit during rainy season and in particular when the dam gates are open. Visit Revolving Gandhi Minar via Hirakud Town but do not forget to visit Jawahar Minar from Burla Power House Side and have a 30 Kms drive on the dyke upto Zero Point, the entry point for Debrigarh Sanctuary. The longest earthern dam in d world... What more is required for describing the tantalizing beauty of d dam..... Simply awesome and d dam looks even more majestic when viewed from atop d towers, situated on both side of d dam.

HIrakud,Largest earthen dam and pride of sambalpur not only beautiful but also the lifeline of western odisha.Flanked with hills & hillock, Green forest this place will mesmerise you,Be prepared to buy fish if you are a fish lover. Evening is the best time of visit.Take your snacks and walk some distance to get maximum pleasure.

It is the largest earthen dam constructed in 50s. There are two watch towers on each side of the dam to have a proper view.

The Hirakud Dam is such a scenic beauty that you will love to be in here throughout the day. The breeze at this place is simply very very pleasing and relaxing. Loved the visit here!

This is one of the unique view dam which you looking form the 60 feet high tower with revolving platform. The view is awesome! You enjoy blue-shaded water with huge sky! This dam have 4.2 km long wall! That was Unforgettable moment in my life!

The more one ponders upon the strength with which Hirakud Dam holds its position the more intrigued one gets. I personally liked the area of the damn. Entry fee is negligible. You have access to viewing revolving gallery from which you can look at the damn and areas around. They have beautiful garden at the base. It is a very well maintained and clean place.
