They’re lovely people, the rooms are great as is the pool and the food is terrific but… from the website we were expecting to have cycling and cookery courses on offer but they are no longer available.Since there’s not a great deal to do in the town it’s more a place to stay a night or to regroup, do admin on the good Wi-Fi and perhaps ask Tish to have the laundry done for which the charge was very reasonable

This place is a paradise.
We are to young backpackers from Denmark who stayed two nights at this BnB and it has been the absolut best days and nights we have spend on this trip so far.
The place is so nice and the owners and staff er so kind and helpful.
And if you stay there, you definitely have to try their traditional Malaysian kitchen.
Its also the best food we have tasted so far!!

I can’t recommend Bikes and Tours highly enough. Simon arranged a wonderful itinerary for us around Sabah which went smoothly and exceeded expectations. He even managed to deal with a last minute change w head to make. Our stay in their home was one of the highlights of our holiday. We were made very welcome and both Simon and Itisha went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Itisha’s food is out of this world. It was easily the best Malaysian food we ate during our stay and she seamlessly altered the meal to suit my vegan daughter. Simon went out in the dark to sort out our laundry. Would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed the 3rd time at Bike and Tours in Lahad Datu and where once more overwhelmed! What a great service in every regard, what a delicious food and last but not least what amazing wildlife. Simon and Tisha organized us a tour to the bole river and to the danum valley. Se saw arround 20 Orang Utan, lots of birds, other monkeys, reptiles and insects. Just a dream all this amimals. Bole river was a great experience and we where the only tourists on the river. Hendry our guide did a great job and spotted a lot and explained about the animals!

I went to Mount Silam in Lahad Datu & fortunately for me it was a clear day and the scenery was beautiful where you are able to see all the islands around theLahad Datu area.
It’s good for photography buffs and also hikers.

Where to start...
Amazing hospitality from Itisha, Simon and their staff.
Looked after us from beginning to end. Nothing was too much for them.
Designed a wonderful itinerary for Sepilok, Kinabatangan wetlands, Bukit Piton overnight stay, Tabin, cycling and snorkelling trip.
Seamless transport between each part of the trip.
So many highlights but the most reassuring aspect was their care and attention to detail. We loved our stay at Lahad Datu - wonderful accommodation, the best food all holiday at their B&B - wonderful breakfasts and amazing dinners - well worth dining there in the evening. Stunning lunch after our cycle which, again, was well thought out with plenty of support for the kids.
If you’re thinking of a holiday to see the best parts of Sabah, don’t think twice - email Itisha with your plans, sit back and watch the best holiday you could possibly imagine be arranged for you.

Me and a friend wanted to book active holidays around Sabah and we found a ton of travel agencies offering packages to do so. What Tisha and Simon from "Bike and tours" offer is not just "another holiday package"! They tailored each detail to meet our wishes, treating us like family! They work with local guides, promote eco-tourism and have the most welcoming and comfortable bed and breakfast in Lahad Datu! Flavoured fresh water and homemade cookies by the pool? Amazing homemade dinner and breakfast with flowers and fruits from the garden? Welcoming smiles and goodbyes each time we come and go? They have it all for you!
We did a couple of adventures in our 2 week holiday:
Kiulu Fun Ride: This was our first activity, with starting point in Kota Kinabalu. Our guide was called Basil and he showed us the countryside around Kota Kinabalu on a half-day bike ride. The bikes were in very good condition, he provided helmets, water and snacks. We strolled through plantations of rubber and fruit trees, little villages and fields. He was knowledgeable and funny. We were picked up from our hostel in Kota Kinabalu and at the end he left us at the sunset beach, to enjoy our first sunset and swim in the sea!
Danum Valley: We stayed at the field centre for 2 nights and did a ton of walks in the rainforest. Danum Valley is a gem, class 1 primary rainforest! I felt like inside a nature documentary! We followed elephant tracks, swam in the river, searched for oranguthans (and found like 10 of them!), all sorts of monkeys including Gibons, and so many little creatures. The sounds of the forest were amazing! Our guide was Andri and he was our oranguthan-whisperer. He was the best following tracks and finding animals. He knew each plant, fruit and being. Even when more groups where looking at an animal he would aways find the best spot for us!
Bukit Piton: Andri also took us to Bukit Piton, a secondary rainforest project where near a Palm Plantation is being raised a new rainforest. The night drive was the best! We saw so many night creatures! slow loris, flying squirrel, flying lemur, moonrat, civets, howls! During the day we also found 3 oranguthans! They also have accommodation there but we didn't have time to stay overnight. We were greeted with fresh fruits and cake and we learnt about the destruction and also about the efforts of preservation of the forests in Sabah! Its hard work and all funding is welcome!
Snorkeling Darvel Bay: We went out into Darvel Bay with Dominic. He has a Padi centre near Lahad Datu and teaches all diving levels there. We went only for snorkelling because we didnt have much time. It was amazing! The sea landscape is composed of many little islands covered in forest and Darvel Bay connects with Semporna in the distance, it is not, however, a marine park and fishing is allowed. We did snorkelling from the boat in a coral area and it was just like a garden! So many colourful fish, starfish, healthy coral! There was also a part of bleached coral but overall it was very well preserved and they are gathering efforts to make it a protected area! We also did snorkelling near a shipwreck and visited a fish farm, to support local economy. For our snorkelling adventure Tisha made us the best Tuna sandwiches wrapped in banana leaves! We were melting with love!
Kinabatangan River Cruise: We stayed in Kinabatagan Greenhouse view. It had all the commodities and offered river cruises and walks. For me the best was seeing so many hornbills. Even 2 rhinocerous Hornbills making calls and flying just over our heads! And with our super competent guide Liana we went "elephant hunting" and we found around 15+ elephants peacefully eating at the borders of the river! One even crossed the river! We were the first to discover the elephants and we stayed watching them around 1h. After we arrived our guide informed other boats and more people came but we were the first to discover them and we got amazing memories! We have also seen more gibbons, oraguthans. We also did 2 boat rides with Farhud and he was also excellent. We have seen the Hornbills with Farhud! The Greenview accommodation is also very near from Sukau-town and we went there on foot to see the school, mosque and surroundings.
Gaya Island: For the last bit of our time we wanted to relax by the beach and ended up 2 nights at Gaya Island Resort. After so much nature, good dirt and sweat and adventure we were welcomed like VIP guests there. We did an amazing massage at the SPA, went mangrove kayaking, watched outdoor cinema and ate until we couldn't more. He have also seen monkeys and wild pigs in the area. There is no sunset view from the resort and no open ocean view, it is facing Kota Kinabalu and Mt Kinabalu, the water is warm but there is no coral to snorkel from the beach. The resort on the other side is amazing! The staff is amazing, the pool is amazing, the service and activities! If you want to treat yourself near Kota Kinabalu before your return home this is the place to go!
Finishing with bike and tours again! Tisha composed this beautiful symphony for us! We didnt need to worry about anything, there was always someone waiting for us, taking us from one place to the other. We had some very full days but it felt very smooth and we are already missing our time there! Tisha was always making sure we were fine and didn't need anything else!
Thank you Tisha and Simon for this unforgettable holiday! :) Hope to see you again in the future!

Dear anapaular340,
Words can't describe how honored we are to have both of you here to experience Borneo through Bike and Tours. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for giving us the honor, trust and opportunity to craft your tour here from West to East to West of Sabah.
Thank you for taking the time to provide detailed information on the places and activities that you engaged in whilst being here. From the Kiulu Cycling Ride to staying at our Bed and Breakfast in Lahad Datu, to the 3D2N Trekking tour in Danum Valley Field Center with our nature guide Hendry, to the day tour to Bukit Piton, to snorkeling and discovering the underwater world at Darvel Bay, to the river safari at Kinabatangan and to end the tour on a relaxing note at the beautiful island of Gaya. Wow what compact and insightful Borneo discovery you experienced within 2 weeks only.
Both of you have been very lucky with the Bprneo wildlife from orangutan, long nose monkeys, hornbills sightings to the nocturnals to the crocodiles and elephants!!! Wow !
We thank you once again for your appreciation. It definitely means a lot to us. We are sure that with your detailed review above travelers alike would be able to gain excellent information when they decide to embark on their traveling journey to Borneo.
Terima kasih and hope to see both of you here once again.
Warmest greetings from Borneo,
Itisha, Simon and team.

I stayed at the BIke & Tours B&B in Lahad Datu for two nights (great!) and additionally did a half-day tour (from 13.00 to 23.00) in the primary rainforest in Bukit Piton with them. The excursion was great: I was very lucky to be the only participant (advantages of travelling during low season in January!) and got very personal service from the driver and the wildlife guide, who were very knowledgeable about the animals and also happily answered the many questions I had about palm plantations. We were very lucky in seeing three orangutans relatively close (incredible given the short duration of the trip!), in addition to plenty of other interesting animals both during the day and at nighttime. It truly felt like a tailor-made trip for me, and I got back exhausted but happy!

Dear Katistravels,
Many thanks for taking the time to share this informative review on your experience at our Bed and Breakfast and also the Day tour to Bukit Piton. We are so happy to hear that you enjoy your stay with us and the tour. Many thanks for reaching out to Bike and Tours for the Bukit Piton Safari tour. We are glad you enjoyed the tour and were lucky to sight a number of animals including 3 orangutans in the secondary forest of Bukit Piton. Bike and Tours places heavy focus in spreading information on Bukit Piton. It is above all a place that brings sentimental value to us. Through our non profitable arm known as Brother Cycling Foundation, we contribute our effort, energy and time on volunteer basis aka free service towards replanting projects in Bukit Piton. Of course we got the kind support of donators and also travelers/naturalists in a form of money contribution and also physically planting the trees at Bukit Piton. This is all joint effort to ensure that this forest grows successfully for the well being of nature and wildlife.
So thank you Katiepark for sharing your experience at Bukit Piton with travelers and naturalists alike. We look forward to have you again here.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Itisha, Simon and team.
