I have been on many liveaboard boats before, and I had the WORST experience on the South Siam liveaboard boat. The boat crews were ignorant, rude and unfriendly. They did not care about safety of the divers by mishandling equipments, and they were mishandling the divers’ items as well. On March 1st, a team of 30 Koreans, including myself, boarded the South Siam boat. The boat manager and staff were SO rude and unfriendly. The staff were swearing in Thai all the time (I speak fluent Thai but the staff did not know that I can understand them because I did not speak a work in Thai on the boat), mishandling the equipments, and never helping with tidying up. For example, the dust caps were left uncapped all the time. The manager on the board was impatient and inadequate for guiding a group of divers; he did not announce for briefings, spoke to himself and was not responsible for what he said. On the last day, he told us to place our belongings at one place, and one of the bags went missing. In addition, my regulator somehow got lost on the boat. I accidentally left my regulator when I left the boat, so I called and asked whether they have my regulator or not. All they said was “No.” It was only few hours after I disembarked the boat. I don’t understand why they couldn’t find it. I also checked with the other divers who were on the same boat, just to make sure that it didn’t accidentally get into others’ bags. It was my fault to leave it on the boat, but I am 100% sure that I had it above the oxygen tank, so I don’t understand why it is not on the boat. The missing baggage and the regulator are still not found yet, and the staff are negligent and unfriendly, not thoroughly looking for missing items from their boat. I really cannot understand how one of the divers’ baggage and my regulator went missing on the boat. If the boat crews don’t find the missing baggage and the regulator, I am going to report this incident to the Tourism Authority of Thailand and also spread these issues to others who might be looking for liveaboards on the internet.
