About
Phuket Weekend Market, also known as Talad Tairod by the locals, is hailed as Phuket’s largest night market. There’s an endless jumble of goods for sale here, including clothing, accessories, souvenirs, shoes, and all sorts of electronics. The food spread is equally vast—you can find fried snacks, fruit salads, and even deep-fried insects. If you’re looking to have a full meal, there are several dine-in seafood restaurants. This weekend market is also located opposite Naka Temple.
As parking spaces are limited, hop on a taxi or tuktuk (Thailand's three-wheeled open-air vehicles) to get here with ease. – Tripadvisor

We went to the market after an afternoon of investigating the old town. A must see experience in Phuket. The weekend market is open from about 4pm and once night time sets in, there is an extra atmosphere. Live entertainment, plenty of food stalls of all types imaginable and heaps of market goods. After a while, all the stalls can look the same but there are some real bargains to be had. Everyone was friendly and we never felt uncomfortable or threatened in any way - felt very safe. Designated taxi stands with defined costs available.Visited July 2023Written 29 July 2023
- DvilleBrianChalong, Thailand479 contributionsFood, shopping and entertainmentWe loved our visit to this weekend night market. It's so fun (and affordable) to cruise up and down the rows of fresh food vendors and snack on different local and regional dishes. There is tons of shopping if you want reasonable souvenirs, knick knacks and clothes. They also sell pretty cheap beer (50 baht for a Singha, Chang or Leo). They have a lot of seating so you can sit down with a drink, food you've picked up from a vendor and enjoy one of their bands they have for free. We've been once since moving here and I'm sure we'll be again. Definitely worth it to check out if you're a visitor, local or expat.Visited July 2022Written 11 July 2022

Been to the market many times over the past number of years, but it needs another mention. Last night that were fire assured specialist to really entertained of the crowd. The usual band with the teen girl with the incredible voice were playing, and it was a great night. I hope that the fire show is made a regular event, and the usual vendor‘s of all sorts of food, touristy bits, crafts, clothing et cetera are all there. It’s great to see this place has survived the pandemic, unless I’ll help her along. It’s great value. For three of us we had our dinner, and our beers, and some snacks for less than 800 baht. Great valueVisited June 2022Travelled with familyWritten 27 June 2022

Exploring the Naka Weekend Market in Phuket was an absolute culinary adventure. This bustling market is a treasure trove of delicious Thai street food, offering a wide range of mouthwatering dishes that will tantalize your taste buds. From the savory delights of Pad Thai and green curry to the sweet indulgence of mango sticky rice, the food options are incredibly diverse.
However, the real gem here is YouKillMe. Their Thai-flavored pastel de nata, including durian and foi tong varieties, are a revelation. The delicate pastries with their unique flavors are a must-try. To complement these delights, be sure to grab a refreshing coconut ice cream near pastry shop to beat the tropical heat.

Very large mostly undercover market, large variety of food and entertainment. You are able to negotiate on prices and grand daughter was very happy to pick up some air Nike's. 😀

The Phuket Weekend Market, also known locally as the Naka Market, is a very large semi open air market in southern Phuket. It's just a couple of kilometres east of Old Phuket Town.
The names of some of the Phuket markets are a little confusing, and most are known by more than one name, but this one is one of the biggest that I'm aware of [along with the Chiliva Night Market] and is a great way to spend a couple of hours or more.
Basically the market has two distinct parts, the food stalls, with lots of tables & chairs available, and the 'general' market, full of the usual t shirts, gifts, crafts, knock-offs and a million other things! And like many Thai markets, there are a number of bars trying to outdo each other with cheap cocktails & beers. What's not to like?

Incredibly safe to eat street food in a covered market. This must be on the essential list when visiting Phuket. A vast variety of street foods make in front of you—all shopping experience at a street level where you can bargain for clothes and souvenirs. Kids really can see the cultural diversity which Phuke has to offer.

This market is good depending on your goal.
If you intend to experience local food than you’re in the right place.
But if you would like to do some shopping than forget it. 95% are counterfeit shops, couldn’t find any local products except the normal souvenirs ( which were a bit pricey).
For us, who were looking for shopping local products was a waste of time.

This place is always a good visit whenever we go to Phuket. There are stalls for almost everything. Souvenirs, clothes and food galore in this fun filled market. There's even live music which is a plus. There are all kinds of food, especially Thai food for the foodies. For those interested in challenging themselves for some fried insects like grasshoppers, scorpions and such you can find it here. Otherwise its mostly great Thai food. Make sure you get all your toilet needs done before coming here as there is only ONE toilet in the entire place.

In so far that a street market can be child friendly - yes? However it is busy with hundreds of stalls, so not somewhere you kids are going to be running free.

We paid 1200bht for a van and driver from Karon to Naka. Trip all up was around 4 hours with waiting etc. not sure about motorbike but this will give some indication for you. It’s about the same distance from Karon to Naka and Patong to Naka

Hi!
Naka weekend market has all of the knock offs that you can find in Bangkok. You can find the watches, bags, scarfs, etc.
Be sure to haggle. I would suggest starting with offering half the price the vendor is asking.
Remember.... if the vendor wont give you the price you want, there is always another vendor selling the same things 2 stalls down.
I would recommend getting there at opening time to avoid the crowds or very late because sometimes the vendors who have had a slow night are more eager to give you a super cheap price.

Is it still around 400 baht to get from Patong to the weekend market?
Brendan248

we paid 800 for the return , including the driver waiting for 3.5 hours. if you are returning its a good idea as taxis etc can be difficult to catch there. i think for the one way 500 would be more likely and a decent price.

Is it safe to eat the food?
I’ve heard mixed reviews about people getting ill after eating the food in the street markets in Phuket.
Also any recommendations of the best time to visit and tuk tuk/ taxi prices to and from Patong?

Watching the food being prepared & cooked ,we looked for fresh ingredients and food that was cooked in front of us to minimise the risk with street food
