Owned by English Heritage the Hall is operated by Lincolnshire County Council. Gainsborough Old Hall is a large, late- medieval manor house built by the noble Burgh family around 1460. The house boasts an impressive Great Hall; original medieval kitchen; East and West ranges containing a myriad of rooms and a haunted ghost corridor.

I would go out of my way to visit this site. It is very well preserved and loaded with historical information combined with impressive restored rooms and artifacts. Additionally, there is currently a display of costumes from Wolf Hall the tv mini-series. Parking is very easy if you are there on a weekday.

Family visit, not with children! Really interesting place. Lots of history related to Henry VIII and some of his wives. Currently an exhibition of the costumes from Wolf Hall. Fantastic architecture. Easy to wile away some time here very pleasantly.

We visited on a day when the staff dressed up in mediaeval dress and reenacted the part of the hall residents of the day. Very interesting and highly informative. Really enjoyed the afternoon outing.

Visited this little gem of a medieval Manor House when we had family visiting over the bank holiday weekend. Took the self guided audio tour which was very informative. We really enjoyed the Wolf Hall costume display that had started two days previously. Gainsborough Old Hall has a sense of history about it from the moment you step through the... More

We all loved the place we've actually been twice now as we don't live to far from here. It's worth a drive out it's a hidden gem they also put on special events and... More

Visited today after many years away from the town. What a delight this place is, a little gem that must get missed by many people. The audio tour is the best I've heard in such a property and has the added bonus of visual input too. The cafe was also quite good.

Although I have lived all my life only about a hours drive from here this is the first visit and it was well worth it. It is a glorious property and you can well imagine being there in Tudor times, it is very well preserved and set out. On our visit they were putting out the costumes from the TV... More

Received notifications regularly from the old hall website regarding the BBC Series Wolf Hall costumes which would be on display from 29 April 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm daily until August. Duly arrived yesterday, 29 April at 6.15 pm anticipating an interesting hour or so only to find, along with other people, the place shut, no one around nor any... More
