Our French hosts recommended that we visited the House & Gardens at Le Bois de Moutiers and we weren't disappointed. If you like the Arts & Crafts movement and admire the work of Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll then this little piece of England tucked away in Varengeville-sur-Mer must be on your itinerary. At the end of Rue de l'Eglise... More

Strange, bold, like something designed by Tim Burton for one of his films, but actually by Lutyens. We visited the gardens with their variety, courtyards, open slopes and a view of the sea in the distance. Strangely and enjoyably unique.

A very unusual Arts and Crafts home sits in a wonderful park with superb gardens. Very close to the ocean and in a charming village, this is a garden that merits at least a half day visit. The home tour was given by the great-great grand-daughter of the founder; she speaks perfect English as well.

As Monet's Garden is (in my view) overstated this garden is more impressive in its understated way. A dull day in May but recommended by our host it did not disappoint. We hope to revisit one day when the sun is out.

Delightful house and gardens located a short drive away from the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry. Designed by Lutyens and Jekyll, this garden is reminiscent of both the English compartment style of gardens, like Sissinghurst, and the grand Cornish coastal gardens with wilder rhododendron and camellia plantings down to the sea. The colours in September were soft creams and dusky pinks - perfect... More

Interesting architecture - recognisable features. Present owners providing interesting gardens to admire. Interesting history of the house, park and the 'domaine'.

We had read of this beautiful home and gardens- the only Lutyens/ Jekyll collaboration in continental Europe - and visited on a beautiful spring day. The gardens were magnificent, ranging from formal to woodland, with some amazingly colourful rhodendrons. The charming owner, Antoine, was on hand for a chat and happily signed a copy of his book that we had... More

The gardens on entrance were beautiful. The map was followed and we managed every point noted. The flower beds near to the house were a real picture and the rhododendums and azaleas were amazing. Bluebells were still out and gave a lovely smell. We managed the huge area of woods leading down to the sea- it was a little difficult... More

We visited on the first day of the year so we missed the riot of colour the garden must become later in the season, nonetheless we could not but be impressed with the design and attention to detail in this wonderful place. The house is pretty spectacular too but I think you have to make a special appointment to see... More
