One of the best trek in the region, Easy to Moderate grade and Fantastic Panoramic view from top... There are couple of patches which needs extra care otherwise it is a Simple trek. 3/4 Day is good enough to complete this trek from Pune. Would suggest a early morning start to have a great view from the top. There is ample parking available at the base village near Hanuman Temple. There is no food and water availability on the top so carry enough stuffs with you Please avoid Trek during extreme summer .

Tunga fort is an old fort in lonavala which is quite a heritage structure. good view all around as its built on quite a height. built mostly of the huge stones used during the old days its still quite nice n strong.

This place is easily reachable by small trek. It takes about 2 hours to reach the top. The way to the fort is easy. Once on the top of Tunga fort, the views of the lake are mesmerizing. Fresh air along with rains make this place must visit during rains.

Our AAC Trekking Grp organised Trek to Tunga Fort on 30th June 2012. Our Tema of 6 People Me Jay, Vinay and Tanmay our Trke Leaders and Daniels and One Girl Ritu We started Early in morning and reached Lonavla Station at around * A. M after having Breakfast we took Tum Tum and reached to Tunga village which is base point for our trek. As guided by Our Trek leader who told us that is is cool walk towards Fort Base, we were walking for almost 2 hrs and the strech was 9km!!!! flat.We thought we might get a suitable transport but it was our bad luck no transport drops there except Mahindra club's Pvt vehicle. after reaching Tunga fort we had our lunch and relaxed as it was walk for so long distnace!!! After exploring fort for 1-2 hrs we headed back and again as thought it was long walk back to tunga base village!!!!!!!!!
So overall The place is Really Excellent but there is no means of Transport directly to Fort. ( If U have Vehicle of your own then it's must visit!!!!) Please Carry lots of Water and Eatables as there is nothing in the vicinity of fort 9km Range!!!!

A relatively easy trek for beginners and once a top the views of the Pavana lake and surrounding areas is mesmerising. one can go any time of the year, but Monsoon is the best time to trek.

Had been to the vicinity of Tungi Fort recently. For the best view, closest and prolonged, of this awesome fort, stay at Club Mahindra , Pawne Resort. Pawne lake on one side of the Resort provide you a soothing view , while Tungi Fort on the other side a magnificent one. Viewing the morning mist moving across the majestic fort is an exhilarating experience.
Reaching the site from Mumbai is easy, Mumbai- Pune Express highway will take you to Lonavala Town, take right turn at the Kumar Resort Junctionn and proceed towards the Bushi dam , cross the Indian Navy establishment , go up the hill towards Ambi Valley. On reaching Cloud 9 Resort, take a left turn, few meters ahead take another left turn and proceed straight for another 10 Kms to reach Club Mahindra , Tungi Resort. Bang opposite , you will see the Tungi Fort. The last 10 Kms is tough since the road condition is pretty bad. You can reach Tungi in 90 minutes from Panvel and the drive is one of the best you must have experienced except for the last 10 kms.
Attempt to go up the fort if you are fit mentally and physically since the trail towards the top is narrow. on your way to the top, you are rewarded by the panoramic view of the the Pawne lake.
Stay at the club Mahindra Resort add to the excitement. Select a room on the first floor facing the lake, enjoy the Sunrise . Good food, pleasant stay, ambience enriched by Tungi Fort and Pawne lake, you are sure to have a memorable outing.

We reached this fort fairly easily but the road around The Machan hotel is bad. There is a parking area by a temple and from there the fort is visible directly above you on the cliff top. The hike doesn't take very long but is a lot of climbing straight up the rocks. We went in December when it is dry and not slippery. The top had great views of the lake and the surroundings. A fun quick trip.
