Not as crowded, not so overwhelming, not so much repetitive food, friendlier people. Maybe the stalls are the same, but the atmosphere is different.

My wife loves markets; big, small, any size, anywhere. Naturally, it had to be a visit to Sunday Night Markets in Walking and adjacent streets, temple grounds, etc. A myriad of stalls on both sides of the streets, in the centre of the streets, off-...More

On the main street of the old city, starting from tapae gate. Sellers starting early in the afternoon to open their stalls. Some parts are so busy at times that you can hardly move forward. There are food stalls and all regular market stuff you...More

We found the Sunday market had much more character than other markets, there was music and a lot of craft type stalls....not row upon row of t shirts! Quite a few artisans had stalls and many different skills where being shown which was fantastic. We...More

The sunday night market (which actually opens around 5pm) is huge with a variety of stalls mostly selling Thai silk, wood carvings and food with the tourists in mind. Most items are cheap and fuel the suspicion of a Chinese origin. The paucity of stalls...More

If you want to get a feel for a more traditional market in Thailand, then go to this one. So many little stalls where you can get souvenirs at better prices than in Bangkok or in the Night Bazaar. The food stalls here are brilliant...More

They start packing up around 11pm yes, but that makes it an ideal time to get a last good bargain with one of the stall owners

Since it is a "night" market I think it won't be open in the early afternoon. On the other hand, if you go before it opens there also won't be any crowds either.
