About
Nestled in the alpine foothills north of Piedmont, Italy, between Turin and Aosta, is a truly magical place on earth called Damanhur. In a 15-kilometer area surrounding the lush, green valley of Valchiusella lives a very active, multilingual community of 600 people. Damanhur is a Federation of spiritual communities, with its own Constitution, culture, art, music, currency, schools and uses of science and technology. Damanhur was founded in 1975 from the inspiration of Falco Tarassaco, né Oberto Airaudi (1950-2013). His enlightened and pragmatic vision created a fertile reality based on solidarity, sharing, love, and respect for the environment. Damanhur is perhaps best known for its extraordinary subterranean work of art and architecture, a cathedral known as the Temples of Humankind. It has been profiled on international television as the "Eighth Wonder of The World." This complex was entirely dug by hand into the heart of the mountain.

Being in the temples is life changing. Beyond the exquisite art, HUGE tiffany ceilings, and creativity, the energy of the temples catalyzes profound spiritual growth. It is a gift to humanity to awaken to our highest potential!

Amazing place
Jan 2020 • Friends
This is certainly one of the most special and unique place in Europe. Very particular art expression, energetically powerful space. The perfect example how group of "ordinary" people can realize the big dream. If you are looking for inspiration or something to surprise you deeply, this is the place for you.

Better than could be imagined
Aug 2019 • Friends
I have become a groupie!!! The Temples of Humankind are nothing short of stunning, fantastic, magical, and a bit unbelievable at first viewing. It is so hard to imagine the dedication, creativity and shocking amount of seriously hard work it has taken to create this artistic Structure. And all of it was done with love, joy and the belief in the greatness of humankind.

Be prepared to be whelmed!!! Quite beyond anything I could have imagined before experiencing it all for myself.

This extraordinary group of people are still refining their 40+ year project based on living in harmonious community. It is truly inspiring what they have and are achieving.

If you are interested in Sacred Spirituality a visit here is a must and if you are not... Visiting for curiosity will afford you some extraordinary art, amazing food and delightful people all in the foothills to the Alps.

Visiting Damanhur is a mystical journey that I’ve taken in the most stunning space in Italy. The Temples have left a lasting impression on me and the beauty of the artwork that is done with such passion and discipline rivals other ancient places. The People are the one of the greatest and most inspiring aspects of the place. Con Voi! 🙏🏾
