The upper section of the mountain railway is currently closed from the bottom section between Fenqihu and Alishan. Apart from the sunrise trains, the trains only operate in two directions for 1 stop (duration of around 5 mins each way). Although this was a nice...More

This is a classic Alishan activity. Adorable little train ! Love the tickets to keep as a souvenir. We were there on a weekday and even though it was summer vacation, there weren’t too many people.

It was fun riding on the little train. The engine is now a diesel unit as the old steam one is now restored and on display. The railway station is quaint. The trip is not long.

Took train from fenqi Hu to jiayi. The 100 years old train station and the 2-hour ride is nice and unforgettable. Definitely a good way to experience the beauty of Alishan. Beautiful scenery with lots of tea plantations.

Assuming you are riding it uphill, the terminus station is at Chiayi train station in Chiayi city downtown. Chiayi is also a county which may cover some other intermediate stations of this railway uphill.
