The smiling Buddha is worth taking pictures. You’re not allowed to enter, unfortunately. The district, North District, has other attractions, so this stop could be part of a day out

Taichung is not turistic city at all. There is quite nice city park (15min far from train station) rainbow village and this statue of big smiling budha is the only interesting in the city. I spent there 3 days and it is good base camp...More

Worth a stop. Just walk in and take some pictures. The Buddha is almost 90 foot tall. Really impressive.

The biggest budha i have seen in Taiwan. Very impressive although the other atractions are not very interesting.

Not much here, but if you've got some time, it's always nice to take a picture with a giant buddha. People on your social media will freak out.

It's just a small temple within the heart of Taichung. There's a big laughing buddha within the temple compound. The original temple is already old and is covered with a bigger structure to protect it from the elements. Though it's small, it's a busy one...More

I would suggest you to take a taxi, unless you speak the Chinese language, can manage to use the bus system and ready to change bus lines.

It is free. However,donations are always accepted at temples. If you light incense (3 sticks is customary) and/or burn paper "money," a contribution is expected.
