The Confucius temple was one of the stops on our walk around Tainan. A wonderful building with such a rich history, it's not to be missed.

Located in lovely garden area. It's helpful to read up on the history of the buildings before you go, or hire a guide to explain things. Needs paint restoration work. Wheelchair accessible to most areas.

Tainan Confucious temple (臺南孔子廟) is also known as Quan Tai Should Xue (全臺首學), translated as Taiwan's first academy. It was built by Zheng Chen Gong's (Koxinga’s) son, Zheng Jing, under the advice of city administrator Chen Yonghua in 1665. Over 30 restorations and renovations had been undertaken...More

Easy to see and located very near the Lama Temple, and Line 5 of the Metro, inexpensive entry fee. I especially enjoyed the presentation hall located off to the right side, look for the hanging plastic strips like you were entering a walk in theatre.

It is located right in the middle of the city and about 12 mins walk from Tainan station. There is really nothing much to see in this temple but most of the attractions in Tainan will not give me the wow feeling. Rated this 3...More

If the relative hustle & bustle of Tainan require a quite spot to recuperate and reflect this is a spot to visit. Peaceful garden and water tank with lovely old buildings and a goodly amount of history to contemplate.

My wife and I recently visited the Confucius Temple while in Tainan. Lots of history; good-sized crowds. Need a great tour guide to make this sight worth a visit.

The West Central District is the most populous and the
busiest area. A lot of shops and hotels crowd the
district, and the long-standing history results in a
variety of street food. In addition to that, this
district also has the highest number of temples. This
is how it got the name “Tainan’s Pantheon.” Historic
buildings are literally ubiquitous. For example,
