Overview
More
At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

If you’re in Taipei, this is a must visit. You could go there via MRT (Red Line) or Bus. Though this is not the tallest in the world, it’s still worth visiting.

With a 12 hour layover we took the metro to check out the city. Taipei 101 is a fun hour to 2 to kill. Amazing views, great food and fun shopping!

Walking distance if you want to go the building itself, but if you rather want to see it in the hostel, just go to the balcony and have a perfect view for the building.

The best way to get around is to take the bus or the mrt. Try google maps, we swear by it. Even with the language barrier it's spot on and accurate.
